NBC MOVES BACK INTO THE MONDAY LEAD, AS 'NINJA' RANKS #1 FOR THE NIGHT AND 'THE ISLAND' TOPS 'WHISPERS' TO WIN AT 10 AMONG ABC, CBS & NBC
'AMERICAN NINJA WARRIOR' MATCHES ITS TOP RATING SINCE LAST JULY IN 18-49, RETAINS 99.6% OF LAST WEEK'S SERIES-RECORD 6.9 MILLION VIEWERS
VERSUS THE SAME NIGHT LAST YEAR, 'NINJA' IS UP +18% IN 18-49 AND 1.9 MILLION VIEWERS OVERALL
Monday Primetime Results:
NBC reclaimed the Monday 18-49 lead among the Big 4 networks, as "American Ninja Warrior" delivered the night's #1 rating and "The Island" moved ahead of "Whispers" to lead at 10 among ABC, CBS and NBC.
· "American Ninja Warrior" (2.0/7 in 18-49, 6.8 million viewers overall from 8-10:01 p.m. ET) maintained 100% of the prior week's 2.0 rating in adults 18-49, to match its season high and equal its top rating since July 28, 2014.
· In total viewers, "American Ninja Warrior" retained 99.6% of last week's series record 6.859 million persons, pending updates, and is currently beating last week 6.778 million in these preliminary fast-affiliate ratings.
· "American Ninja Warrior" is the #1 show of the night on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, as well as adults 25-54, total viewers and all key adult-male demos and also won the time period among those networks in each of those measures.
· Versus the same night last year "American Ninja Warrior" is up +18% in 18-49 (2.0 vs. 1.7 from 9-11 p.m. on June 9, 2014) and up +39% or 1.9 million persons in total viewers (6.830 million vs. 4.931 million).
· "American Ninja Warrior" will add significant viewership via time-shifting - last week's telecast grew by +12% in 18-49 rating going from "live plus same day" to "live plus three day" Nielsens (from a 2.00 rating to a 2.23) and by 647,000 viewers overall (from 6.9 million to 7.5 million).
· "The Island" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 3.8 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) is currently up +9% week to week in 18-49 (1.2 vs. 1.1) to match the show's highest rating to date (1.2 with its May 25 debut). In total viewers, "The Island" is currently reporting its top result to date, pending updates, up +3% week to week (3.753 million vs. 3.654 million)
· In the time period, "The Island" ranks #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49 as well as men 18-49, men 25-54 and adults, men and women 18-34, and is tied for #1 in adults 25-54.
· "The Island" will add significant viewership via time-shifting - last week's episode increased by +18% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (1.14 to 1.34). In total viewers, "The Island" increased by 567,000 persons (from 3.7 million to 4.2 million).
In Late-Night Metered Markets Monday Night:
· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 2.5/6; "CBS Summer Showcase," 1.8/5 with an encore; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.8/5 with an encore.
· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.9/4; "CBS Summer Showcase," 0.4/2 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/2 with an encore.
· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.
· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.1/4 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (1.0/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.3/2 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/2).
· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 with an encore in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
