GOLD RUSH Grabs More Than FIVE Million Total Viewers as Discovery Ranks #1 in Adults, Men and Women on Cable

Discovery Channel hit the mother lode on Friday, Oct. 16 as GOLD RUSH returned for an all-new season and ranked as Friday night's #1 telecast on All of Television among Men 25-54, topping all its Prime Time television competitors, including FOX's ALCS game #1 (by +9%), ABC's Shark Tank and CBS' Blue Bloods, among others in L+3. GOLD RUSH also beat FOX's ALCS game #1 in Adults 25-54 (by +7%). GOLD RUSH on cable was #1 across Adults/Men/Women 25-54/18-49, Adults and Men 18-34 and Total Viewers P2+, while Discovery was the #1 cable network for the night among Adults, Men, Women and Total Viewers P2+.

GOLD RUSH at 9PM ET/PT increased its viewership and Adults 25-54 rating vs. the season five premiere and ranked as the second highest GOLD RUSH premiere with a 2.74 rating in Adults 25-54 (up +6% vs. season five's 2.59) with 5.04 million Total Viewers (up +7% vs. season five's 4.72M). The season six premiere also topped season five premiere ratings across Adults Men and Women 25-54, Adults and Women 18-49, Women 18-34 and Persons 6-11, graph below.

The 8PM ET/PT season premiere of The Dirt, the GOLD RUSH preshow, hosted by Matt Rogers, was up double digits in Total Viewers P2+ vs. last year's season premiere, up +10% with 2.06 million Total Viewers P2+ (vs. season five's 1.87M). The season premiere episode also set a record among Women 18-34 and was Friday night's #2 ad-supported cable telecast in Adults and Men 25-54 and Total Viewers P2+, behind only GOLD RUSH.

Driven by GOLD RUSH, Discovery Channel was #1 on cable in Friday Prime across Adults/Men/Women 25-54, Adults/Men/Women 18-49, Adults/Men/Women 18-34 and Total Viewers P2+. Discovery was also the #2 network in all of television in Men 25-54/18-49/18-34, behind only FOX.

An all-new episode of GOLD RUSH will premiere tonight, Oct. 23 at 9PM ET/PT.
