Tuesday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS Tops Viewers, Demos with Dramas

Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (3/22/16):

CBS (11.830 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #1) was the network to beat on Tuesday with its trio of "NCIS" (15.594 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.0, #2), "NCIS: New Orleans" (13.110 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #3) and "Limitless" (6.789 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #5).

NBC (6.971 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.5, #2) then claimed the silver with a new "The Voice" (10.544 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.4, #1), the premiere of "Heartbeat" (6.341 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.4, #4) and a repeat "Chicago Fire" (4.029 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.8, #11).

Next up was ABC (3.136 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #3) and its mix of "Fresh Off the Boat" (4.597 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.2, #6), "The Real O'Neals" (3.816 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T8), "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" (2.907 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.9, #10) and "Beyond the Tank" (2.294 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T12).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.609 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.6, #5) offered up a new "New Girl" (2.279 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T8) alongside repeats of "Grandfathered" (1.318 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T12), "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (1.462 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T12) and "The Grinder" (1.375 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.4, #16).

And finally, new episodes of "The Flash" (3.001 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.1, #7) and "iZombie" (1.273 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.5, #15) on The CW (2.137 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #4) closed out the evening.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.7/4; "Late Show," 0.4/2 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.1/4 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (0.9/3 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.4/3 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/1 with an encore).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (3/24/15):

CBS (13.153 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.8, #1) pulled into the top demo spot on Tuesday with originals from "NCIS" (16.014 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.2, #2), "NCIS: New Orleans" (14.251 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.9, #3) and "Person of Interest" (9.193 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T4).

NBC (6.644 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.7, #2) then had to settle for second place with its mix of "The Voice" (11.196 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.7, #1), "Undateable" (5.239 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T4), "One Big Happy" (3.947 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.2, #9) and a special "The Night Shift" (4.144 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T11).

Next up was ABC (4.289 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3) and fresh installments of "Fresh Off the Boat" (4.949 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.4, #7), "Repeat After Me" (3.555 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T11), "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" (4.201 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.5, #T4) and "Forever" (4.412 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.9, #13).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.781 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #4) served up a new "Hell's Kitchen" (3.699 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.3, #8), a repeat "New Girl" (1.676 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T15) and the season finale of "The Mindy Project" (2.051 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.8, #14).

And finally, The CW (2.637 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.9, #5) closed out the evening with a new "The Flash" (3.210 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.1, #10) and week two of "iZombie" (2.064 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T15) In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), the former posted a 0.8 rating while the latter delivered a 0.6 rating.
