Friday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS No Joke in Viewers, Demos

Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (4/1/16):

CBS (8.162 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #1) was no April Fool on Friday with the post-NCAA return of "The Amazing Race" (5.909 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T2), "Hawaii Five-0" (8.320 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T2) and "Blue Bloods" (10.257 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #1).

ABC (4.499 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.9, #2) then was the number two draw with repeats of "Last Man Standing" (4.722 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8), "Dr. Ken" (3.799 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T10) and "Shark Tank" (4.500 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T4) plus a new "20/20" (4.737 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T4).

Next up was NBC (3.900 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #3) and a repeat of "Caught on Camera with Nick Cannon" (3.544 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T10) followed by originals from "Grimm" (4.094 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T6) and "Dateline NBC" (4.062 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T6).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.642 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #4) offered up a new "Sleepy Hollow" (2.627 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T10) and the relocated "Hell's Kitchen" (2.657 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8).

And finally, the return of "The Vampire Diaries" (1.169 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.5, #13) and "The Originals" (0.958 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.4, #14) on The CW (1.063 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5) closed out the night.

· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 2.7/7; "Late Show with Stephen Colbert," 2.1/5; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.8/4 with an encore.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.9/5; "Late Show," 0.4/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/2 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/3 in metered-market households and a 0.4/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.3/4 in metered-market households with an encore) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (1.1/3 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/3 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2 with an encore).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (4/3/15):

CBS (8.579 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #1) was still the network to beat on Friday with its trio of "The Amazing Race" (6.141 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T2), "Hawaii Five-0" (8.929 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T2) and "Blue Bloods" (10.667 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #1).

NBC (5.408 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.1, #2) then was a close second with originals from "Grimm" (4.520 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T7) and "Dateline NBC" (5.853 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T2).

Next up was ABC (4.922 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #3) and fresh installments of "Last Man Standing" (6.467 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T2) and "Cristela" (5.475 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T7) followed by a repeat "Shark Tank" (5.034 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #6) and a new "20/20" (3.763 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.8, #9).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.894 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #4) offered up the feature "21 Jump Street" (1.894 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.7, #10).

And finally, repeats of "Here Comes Peter Cottontail" (1.299 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T11), "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.096 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T11) and another "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.162 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T11) on The CW (1.214 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), said trio posted a 0.3, 0.2 and 0.3 rating, respectively.
