Friday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS Tops Viewers, Edges Out Demo Crown

Here are the highlights of the 11 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (5/6/16):

CBS (7.856 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.0, #1) was the top draw on Friday with its mix of "The Amazing Race" (5.272 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T5), "Hawaii Five-0" (8.419 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T2) and the season finale of "Blue Bloods" (9.878 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T2).

ABC (4.697 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.9, #2) then was a close second place with the relocated "Beyond the Tank" (3.561 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.6, #8), "Shark Tank" (5.301 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #1) and "20/20" (5.230 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #4).

Next up was NBC (4.510 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #3) with its 90-minute editions of "Adele Live in New York City" (4.356 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.7, #7) and "Dateline NBC" (4.663 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T5).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.563 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #4) opted for the feature "Think Like a Man" (1.563 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.5, #9).

And finally, new episodes of "The Vampire Diaries" (0.904 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T10) and "The Originals" (0.815 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T10) on The CW (0.860 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) closed out the night.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.9/4; "Late Show," 0.3/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/3 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.4/5 in metered-market households with an encore) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (1.0/3 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/3 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/1 with an encore).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 12 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (5/8/15):

ABC (5.731 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.4, #1) was the demo champ on Friday with its mix of "Shark Tank" (6.580 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.5, #1), "Beyond the Tank" (5.566 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.4, #2) and "20/20" (5.047 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3).

NBC (5.227 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #2) then took home the silver with new episodes of "Grimm" (4.284 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T6) and "Dateline NBC" (5.699 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T4).

Next up was CBS (7.317 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.0, #3) with new episodes of "The Amazing Race" (5.468 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T6) and "Hawaii Five-0" (8.367 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T4) plus the season finale of "Hawaii Five-0" (8.118 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T6).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.297 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.4, #4) offered up the feature "Scream" (1.297 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.4, #10).

And finally, The CW (0.991 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) served up its revised Friday lineup of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.380 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.5, #9), a repeat "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.229 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.3, #11) and "The Messengers" (0.679 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.2, #12). In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), said trio posted a 0.3, 0.1 and 0.1 rating, respectively.
