Tuesday's Broadcast Ratings: "NCIS" Season Finale Sparks CBS Victory

Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (5/17/16):

CBS (12.634 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.8, #1) was the top draw on Tuesday with the season finales of "NCIS" (17.617 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.5, #1) and "NCIS: New Orleans" (13.186 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #T2) plus a new "Person of Interest" (7.100 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T7).

The silver then went to NBC (8.176 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.7, #2) with a new "The Voice" (8.900 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.8, #T2) followed by the season finales of "Chicago Med" (7.774 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T4) and "Chicago Fire" (7.853 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T4).

Next up was ABC (3.269 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #3) and its lineup of "Fresh Off the Boat" (4.210 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T7), "The Real O'Neals" (3.266 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.9, #11), "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" (3.049 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9) and the season finale of "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" (3.019 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9).

Meanwhile, The CW (2.367 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.9, #4) offered up originals from "The Flash" (3.347 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.3, #6) and "Containment" (1.387 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T13).

And finally, FOX (3.299 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.7, #5) closed out the evening with "Megyn Kelly Presents" (4.694 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.8, #12) and the launch of "Coupled" (1.905 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T13).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.8/4; "Late Show," 0.4/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/2 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.0/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.2/4 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (1.0/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.4/3 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/2).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 11 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (5/19/15):

NBC (10.149 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.4, #1) was the network to beat on Tuesday with its "The Voice Recap" (7.733 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.6, #4) followed by the season finale of "The Voice" (11.357 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.8, #1).

The silver then went to ABC (11.220 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.2, #2) with night two of "The Bachelorette" (7.046 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.9, #3) alongside the season finale of "Dancing with the Stars" (13.307 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.3, #2).

Next up was FOX (3.422 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #3) with a new "Hell's Kitchen" (3.503 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.2, #7) plus a second "Hell's Kitchen" (3.341 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.3, #6).

Meanwhile, CBS (7.590 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #5) served up its all-repeat lineup of "NCIS" (9.075 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #8), "NCIS: New Orleans" (7.260 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T9) and another "NCIS" (6.434 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T9).

And finally, the season finale of "The Flash" (3.706 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.4, #5) and a new "iZombie" (1.762 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.7, #11) on The CW (2.734 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #4) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), the former posted a 0.8 rating while the latter delivered a 0.5 rating.
