Monday's Broadcast Ratings: "The Bachelorette" Return Pushes ABC on Top

Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (5/23/16):

ABC (8.536 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.0, #1) pulled into the top spot among adults 18-49 with a new "Dancing with the Stars" (12.139 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.9, #T2) and the return of "The Bachelorette" (6.734 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.0, #1).

NBC (8.714 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #2) then had to settle for second place with a new "The Voice" (10.056 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.9, #T2) and the season finale of "Blindspot" (6.031 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T4).

Next up was CBS (5.400 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #3) and its combination of a primetime "The Price Is Right" (6.188 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T4), a new "The Odd Couple" (4.574 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.0, #7), the season finale of "The Odd Couple" (4.564 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T8) and a new "Person of Interest" (5.443 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T8).

Meanwhile, FOX (3.105 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #4) offered up the season finale of "Gotham" (3.611 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.2, #6) and an original "Houdini & Doyle" (2.598 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.6, #10).

And finally, a new "Reign" (0.986 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.3, #13) led into the return of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.275 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T11) and a second "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.462 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T11) on The CW (1.177 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.8/4; "Late Show," 0.4/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.3/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.2/4 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (0.9/3). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.4/3 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/1).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 11 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (5/25/15):

NBC (5.254 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #1) was the demo champ on Monday thanks to the return of "American Ninja Warrior" (5.888 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.8, #1) and the launch of "The Island" (3.984 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3).

ABC (5.288 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.4, #2) then snagged the silver with new episodes of "500 Questions" (5.217 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #4) and "The Bachelorette" (5.323 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #2).

Next up was CBS (5.087 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #3) and its repeat quartet of "2 Broke Girls" (5.310 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T5), "Mike & Molly" (5.186 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T5), "Scorpion" (4.960 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.8, #7) and "NCIS: Los Angeles" (5.055 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T8).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.293 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #4) offered up repeats of "MasterChef" (2.210 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.6, #10) and a second "MasterChef" (2.376 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T8).

And finally, the feature "Memorial Day" (1.072 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.3, #11) on The CW (1.072 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), the film posted a 0.3 rating.
