Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: NBC Tops Charts with "Thursday Night Football"

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (12/8/16):

NBC (11.853 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.5, #1) was of course the network to beat on Thursday with its "Thursday Night Football Pre-Game" (10.347 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.9, #2) and "Thursday Night Football" (12.153 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.7, #1).

CBS (7.021 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.3, #2) then was a distant second with a repeat "The Big Bang Theory" (9.682 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.7, #3) alongside originals from "The Great Indoors" (7.333 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.5, #4), "Mom" (7.470 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.4, #5), "Life in Pieces" (6.371 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.2, #6) and "Pure Genius" (5.636 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.0, #7).

Next up was ABC (3.524 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T3) and encore of "Toy Story That Time Forgot" (3.766 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T11) and "Shrek the Halls" (3.771 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T8) plus a new "The Great Holiday Baking Show" (4.216 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T8) and the season finale of "Notorious" (2.590 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.5, #15).

Meanwhile, FOX (3.172 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T3) offered up its special "Taraji's White Hot Holidays" (3.461 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T8) and the season finale of "Pitch" (2.884 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T11).

And finally, The CW (1.852 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.7, #5) closed out the evening with the Tuesday-bound "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" (1.966 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.7, #13) and the fall finale of "Supernatural" (1.738 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.6, #14).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.9, delayed by an NFL overrun; "Late Show," 0.5/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.7/4 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1. 2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," a 1.3 rating in metered-market households, with an encore delayed by an NFL overrun; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.0/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.5 in 18-49, with an encore delayed by an NFL overrun; "Late Late Show," 0.3/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly," with an encore delayed by an NFL overrun, averaged a 0.9 rating in metered-market households and a 0.4 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (12/10/15):

CBS (8.854 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.2, #1) was the demo champ on Thursday with its original mix of "The Big Bang Theory" (16.009 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 4.0, #1), "Life in Pieces" (9.643 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.4, #2), "Mom" (8.162 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.0, #3), "2 Broke Girls" (6.988 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.9, #4) and "Elementary" (6.161 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.3, #6).

NBC (10.952 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.6, #2) then was the most-watched network with its specials "Michael Buble's Christmas in Hollywood" (7.173 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.1, #7) and "Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors" (12.842 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #5).

Next up was ABC (3.189 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #3) and its special "Toy Story at 20: To Infinity and Beyond Movie" (3.315 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T10) followed by the feature itself "Toy Story" (3.126 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T8).

Meanwhile, FOX (4.494 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #4) offered up a new "Bones" (4.599 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T10) and the fall finale of "Bones" (4.391 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T8).

And finally, The CW (1.073 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.5, #5) likewise served up the fall finales of the Friday-bound "The Vampire Diaries" (1.166 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.5, #12) and "The Originals" (0.982 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.4, #13).
