Tuesday's Broadcast Ratings: NBC, "The Voice" Stay on Top

Here are the highlights of the 17 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (3/21/17):

NBC (7.554 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.6, #1) was the top draw on Tuesday with its mix of "The Voice" (10.686 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.2, #1), week two of "Trial & Error" (5.387 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.2, #3), a second "Trial & Error" (4.361 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #4) and "Chicago Fire" (7.102 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.5, #2).

CBS (7.462 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T2) then was the second most-watched network despite repeats of "NCIS" (9.237 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T5), "Bull" (7.019 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8) and "NCIS: New Orleans" (6.131 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T14).

Next up was ABC (3.232 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T2) with repeats of "The Middle" (4.319 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T5), "American Housewife" (3.193 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8), "Fresh Off the Boat" (2.872 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8), "Black-ish" (2.645 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T14) and a new "People Icons" (3.183 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T14).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.820 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T2) offered up originals from "New Girl" (1.975 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8), "The Mick" (2.229 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8) and "Bones" (3.538 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T8).

And finally, fresh installments from "The Flash" (2.646 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T5) and "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" (1.760 million viewers, #17; adults 18-49: 0.6, #17) on The CW (2.203 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T2) rounded out the night.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.7/4; "Late Show," 0.5/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.1/4 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.1/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.2/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (3/22/16):

CBS (11.830 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #1) was the network to beat on Tuesday with its trio of "NCIS" (15.594 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.0, #2), "NCIS: New Orleans" (13.110 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #3) and "Limitless" (6.789 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #5).

NBC (6.971 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.5, #2) then claimed the silver with a new "The Voice" (10.544 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.4, #1), the premiere of "Heartbeat" (6.341 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.4, #4) and a repeat "Chicago Fire" (4.029 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.8, #11).

Next up was ABC (3.136 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #3) and its mix of "Fresh Off the Boat" (4.597 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.2, #6), "The Real O'Neals" (3.816 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T8), "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" (2.907 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.9, #10) and "Beyond the Tank" (2.294 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T12).
