DISCOVERY CHANNEL RATINGS HEAT UP IN AUGUST WITH YEAR-TO-YEAR GROWTH IN KEY DEMOS
(Los Angeles) - Discovery Channel continued its ratings streak during the month of August owning more top 10 unscripted cable series than any other network in M25-54 and M18-49. The network also had its most-watched August Wednesdays ever (P2+), driven by ALASKAN BUSH PEOPLE and owned cable's #1 unscripted series in M25-54 on Monday (STREET OUTLAWS: NEW ORLEANS), Tuesday (DEADLIEST CATCH) and Wednesday (ALASKAN BUSH PEOPLE).
The hit series DEADLIEST CATCH dominated ratings in August and its season finale reached 11-week highs across key men. DEADLIEST CATCH ranked as the #1 cable telecast (excl. sports) among M25-54 every single week this season - 19 total weeks. DEADLIEST CATCH claimed August's #1 unscripted cable series in M25-54 while ALASKAN BUSH PEOPLE claimed the top spot across P2+.
The network's rating streak continued, ranking as the #1 non-sports cable network in M25-54 year to-date and owning nine of the year's top ten unscripted cable series in M25-54. Discovery is pacing towards its highest-rated year ever on Wednesdays in P25-54 and the 2nd-highest rated year ever on Mondays across P/M 25-54 and P/M18-49. GOLD RUSH ranks as cable's #1 unscripted series across P/M 25-54, M18-49, M18-34, P2+ while STREET OUTLAWS took the #2 spot across M25-54, M18-49 and M18-34. Discovery also claims more top 10 unscripted cable series than any other network across P/M25-54, M18-49, M18-34, P2+ with GOLD RUSH: PARKER'S TRAIL ranking as the year's #1 new unscripted cable series in M25-54.
