Friday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS Dramas Top Charts in Viewers, Demos

Here are the highlights of the 11 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (1/5/18):

CBS (9.212 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.0, #1) edged out the competition on Friday with the return of "MacGyver" (7.864 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T3), "Hawaii Five-0" (9.896 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.2, #1) and "Blue Bloods" (9.878 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #2).

NBC (4.488 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T2) then was the silver draw with its primetime coverage of the "U.S. Figure Skating Championships" (4.488 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T6).

Next up was ABC (3.680 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T2) with the launch of "Child Support" (4.394 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T3) alongside "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" (2.477 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.7, #8) and "20/20" (4.168 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T6).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.977 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T2) offered up a new "Hell's Kitchen" (3.415 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T3) and an encore of "9-1-1" (2.538 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.6, #9).

And finally, the winter premiere of "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" (0.703 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.2, #11) and a repeat "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" (0.947 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.3, #10) closed out the night on The CW (0.825 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5).

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.0/3 in metered-market households with an encore; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.4/4 with an encore. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.4/2 in 18-49 with an encore; "Late Late Show," 0.3/2 with an encore.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/2 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

ABC (6.291 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.4, #1) edged out the competition among adults 18-49 with new episodes of "Last Man Standing" (7.709 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.5, #1), "Dr. Ken" (5.534 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T7), "Shark Tank" (5.879 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T2) and "20/20" (6.372 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T2).

CBS (9.736 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #2) then was the silver draw with originals from "MacGyver" (8.478 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T5), "Hawaii Five-0" (10.021 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T5) and "Blue Bloods" (10.711 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #4).

Next up was NBC (4.470 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #3) with the return of "Grimm" (4.460 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.9, #10) followed by the premiere of "Emerald City" (4.698 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T7) and a second "Emerald City" (4.251 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.0, #9).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.628 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #4) served up the Friday premiere of "Rosewood" (3.049 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T11) and the season opener to "Sleepy Hollow" (2.206 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T11).
