Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: FOX, "Empire" Top Demo Race

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (4/4/18):

FOX (4.909 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.5, #1) was the top demo draw on Wednesday with originals from "Empire" (5.522 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.7, #1) and "Star" (4.296 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T4).

Second place then went to CBS (6.494 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #2) with its mix of "Survivor: Ghost Island" (8.242 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.6, #2), a repeat "NCIS" (5.369 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T10) and a new "Criminal Minds" (5.873 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #7).

Next up was ABC (4.514 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #3) and its lineup of "The Goldbergs" (5.377 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T4), "Alex, Inc." (3.832 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T8), "Modern Family" (5.503 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.5, #3), "American Housewife" (4.643 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.2, #6) and "Designated Survivor" (3.866 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T10).

Meanwhile, NBC (4.478 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #4) offered up a new "The Blacklist" (5.358 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T8) alongside repeats of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (3.853 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T10) and "Chicago PD" (4.223 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T10).

And finally, a repeat "Riverdale" (0.566 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T14) and the Friday-bound "Life Sentence" (0.441 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T14) closed out the night on The CW (0.503 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5).

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.2/4 in metered-market households); CBS's "Late Late Show" (0.9/3 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night" (0.3/3 in 18-49); "Late Late Show" (0.2/2 with an encore).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

FOX (4.977 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.6, #1) was the demo champ on Wednesday with new episodes from "Shots Fired" (3.645 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T11) and "Empire" (6.309 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.2, #1).

The silver then went to ABC (5.247 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.4, #2) with new episodes of "The Goldbergs" (5.603 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.5, #4), "Speechless" (4.750 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T5), "Modern Family" (6.163 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.8, #2), "Black-ish" (4.569 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T5) and "Designated Survivor" (5.199 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T9).
