Wednesday's Broadcast Ratings: FOX Tops Demos; CBS Wins in Total Viewers

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (5/16/18):

FOX (4.489 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.4, #1) claimed the top crown on Wednesday with new episodes of "Empire" (5.103 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.6, #1) and "Star" (3.875 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T3).

The silver then went to CBS (6.478 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #2) with a new "Survivor: Ghost Island" (7.446 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.4, #2), the season finale of "SEAL Team" (6.145 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.9, #8) and a new "Code Black" (5.845 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T9).

Next up was ABC (4.113 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #3) and its finale lineup of "The Goldbergs" (5.142 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.2, #5), "Alex, Inc." (3.346 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T9), "Modern Family" (4.960 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T3), "American Housewife" (4.114 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.1, #6) and "Designated Survivor" (3.559 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T12).

Meanwhile, NBC (4.712 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.8, #4) offered up the season finale of "The Blacklist" (5.129 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.7, #11), a new "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (5.277 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #7) and the special "Inside the Royal Wedding: Harry and Meghan" (3.729 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T12).

And finally, The CW (1.053 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5) closed out the evening with the season finale of "Riverdale" (1.294 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.4, #14) plus a new "The Originals" (0.813 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.3, #15).

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.1/4 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.2/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.3/2.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

ABC (5.134 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #2) then claimed the silver with the season finales of "The Goldbergs" (5.273 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.4, #4), "Speechless" (4.499 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6), "Modern Family" (6.082 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.7, #T2), a preview of "Downward Dog" (4.700 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T8) and the season finale of "Designated Survivor" (5.126 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T8).
