Friday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS Wins in Total Viewers; Shares Demo Honors

Here are the highlights of the 12 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (12/28/18):

CBS (4.075 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T1) was the most-watched network on a modest Friday with repeats of "Garth Brooks: Live at Notre Dame!" (3.851 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T3) and "Blue Bloods" (4.522 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T5).

NBC (3.278 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T1) then was a close second with the finale to "Midnight, Texas" (2.418 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T5) and a two-hour "Dateline NBC" (3.709 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T1).

Next up was FOX (2.194 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T1) with repeats of "Last Man Standing" (3.221 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T1), "The Cool Kids" (2.591 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T3) and "Hell's Kitchen" (1.482 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T5).

Meanwhile, ABC (2.362 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.4, #4) offered up second runs of "Fresh Off the Boat" (2.503 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T5), "Speechless" (1.779 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.3, #10) and a two-hour "20/20" (2.473 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T5).

And finally, a repeat "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" (1.195 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.2, #11) and the special "Popstar's Best of 2018" (0.556 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.1, #12) rounded out the night on The CW (0.876 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.4/2 with an encore; "Late Show," 0.2/1 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/2 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.0/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 0.9/3 in metered-market households with an encore; CBS's "Late Late Show," 0.9/3 with an encore. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.2/2 in 18-49 with an encore; "Late Late Show," 0.1/1 with an encore.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/2 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.1/1 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 10 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (12/29/17):

NBC (4.435 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.8, #1) was the network to beat on a repeat heavy Friday with "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (3.293 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T5) and "Dateline NBC" (5.007 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.9, #1).

ABC (3.844 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.6, #2) then claimed the silver with a repeat "Shark Tank" (4.042 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.7, #2) and special two-hour "In an Instant" (3.746 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T3).

Next up was CBS (4.416 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T3) with a special "48 Hours" (4.771 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T3) followed by repeats of "MacGyver" (4.114 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T5) and "Blue Bloods" (4.365 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T8).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.783 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T3) served up second runs of "Hell's Kitchen" (1.779 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T8) and another "Hell's Kitchen" (1.787 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T5).

And finally, a rebroadcast of "iHeartRadio Music Festival, Night 2" (0.758 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.2, #10) on The CW (0.758 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5) rounded out the night.
