Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS Wins with Originals in Viewers, Demos

Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (1/31/19):

CBS (8.539 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.4, #1) was the top draw on Thursday with its original lineup of "The Big Bang Theory" (13.519 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.4, #1), "Young Sheldon" (11.557 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.9, #2), "Mom" (8.651 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.3, #4), "Fam" (6.136 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #7) and "SWAT" (5.686 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T8).

Second place then went to ABC (5.056 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.1, #2) with fresh installments from "Grey's Anatomy" (7.244 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.7, #3), "A Million Little Things" (5.341 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5) and "How to Get Away with Murder" (2.583 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.6, #14).

Next up was NBC (4.052 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #3) with new episodes of "The Titan Games" (4.621 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5), "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (2.755 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T10), the return of "Will & Grace" (3.117 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T10) and a new "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (4.599 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T8).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.757 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #4) offered up new episodes of "Gotham" (2.409 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T12) and "The Orville" (3.104 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T12).

And finally, The CW (1.189 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) closed out the night with originals from "Supernatural" (1.364 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.4, #15) and "Legacies" (1.014 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.3, #16).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.5/3; "Late Show," 0.4/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.2/4 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.2/5 with an encore. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.2/2 with an encore.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 17 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (2/1/18):

CBS (9.347 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.7, #1) inched past the competition on Thursday with new episodes of "The Big Bang Theory" (14.462 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.8, #1), "Young Sheldon" (12.880 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.3, #T2), "Mom" (9.236 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.6, #4), "Life in Pieces" (7.082 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T7) and "SWAT" (6.211 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T12).

ABC (6.037 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #2) then was a tight second with its trio of "Grey's Anatomy" (8.847 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.3, #T2), "Scandal" (5.602 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T5) and "How to Get Away with Murder" (3.662 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T12).

Next up was FOX (3.733 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #3) with a new "The Four: Battle for Stardom" (3.420 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T9) and second "The Four: Battle for Stardom" (4.047 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T5).

Meanwhile, NBC (4.183 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #4) served up its mix of "Superstore" (3.460 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T9), the season finale of "The Good Place" (3.172 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T9), "Will & Grace" (4.066 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T7), a preview of "AP Bio" (3.178 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.9, #15) and "Chicago Fire" (5.611 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T12).
