January 11, 2023, NEW YORK -- Hallmark Channel heads into the new year with many reasons to celebrate. Driven by its original scripted series and original movies, Hallmark Channel claims the distinction as most-watched network on entertainment cable for the entire year. Beloved long-time scripted program, When Calls the Heart, ranked as the year's second most-watched original scripted series on cable, while the network's original movies accounted for 97 of the top 100 cable movies in 2022.
In addition, holiday programming phenomenon, Countdown to Christmas, once again rose to the top in Fourth Quarter, positioning the network as #1 most-watched across entertainment cable for the ninth consecutive year. Two original holiday movies were seasonal standouts - Haul Out the Holly, headlined by fan favorites, Lacey Chabert and Wes Brown, and Three Wise Men and a Baby, starring Paul Campbell, Tyler Hynes, and Andrew Walker, both of which earned bragging rights as the #1 most-watched cable movies of the year.
