'Nightline' Grows Week to Week Across the Board and Year to Year in Total Viewers and Adults 25-54

'Nightline' Reports Strongest News Demo Performance in 16 months and Largest Overall Audience in 10 Months

ABC News' "Nightline" ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (956,000), Adults 25-54 (267,000) and Adults 18-49 (176,000) for the week of Oct. 2, 2023, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. "Nightline" took the top spot, beating CBS' "Comics Unleashed" and NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers."

"Nightline" posted double-digit gains week to week across the board: Total Viewers (+24% - 956,000 vs. 769,000), Adults 25-54 (+25% - 267,000 vs. 214,000) and Adults 18-49 (+19% - 176,000 vs. 148,000). "Nightline" turned in its strongest news demo performance in 16 months and drew its largest overall audience in 10 months - since weeks of 6/13/22 and 1/16/23, respectively.

"Nightline" improved on the same week last year in Total Viewers (+1% - 956,000 vs. 948,000), and Adults 25-54 (+5% - 267,000 vs. 254,000).

On Monday (10/2/23), "Nightline" scored its most-watched telecast (1.271 million) in 16 months - since 6/8/22.

This week "Nightline" covered the House of Representative's vote to remove Speaker Kevin McCarthy; how members of the LGBTQ+ community in Uganda say they're living in fear, after one of the world's harshest anti-homosexuality laws was passed there this year; Omar Epps' latest novel in his sci-fi series, "Nubia: The Reckoning"; the growing number of moms microdosing on magic mushrooms; borrowers bracing for tough budget choices after student loan payments resume; "The Golden Bachelor" Gerry Turner opening up about looking for love after loss; lessons learned from the "World's Happiest Country," inside Finland's happiness "Masterclass"; this week's "Impact x Nightline" which explored the investigation into the popular social media influencer, Ruby Franke, who has been charged along with a business partner with child abuse and more.
