The CBS Newsmagazine Is America's #1 News Show for the 50th Straight Season
60 MINUTES capped the 2023-2024 television season with a historic milestone, marking 50 straight seasons as the #1 news show in America. This is the first time any program on television has reigned as #1 for five decades. The 56th season of 60 MINUTES reached more than 100 million viewers.
Sunday's season finale featured a historic interview with Pope Francis, a report on Cuban spies working within the highest ranks of the U.S. government and a look at a Nazi photo album that's been made into an off-Broadway play. The May 19 broadcast was the #4 primetime broadcast in viewers and adults 18+ and #7 in adults 25-54.
Ratings Highlights for 2023-24 Season:
· 60 MINUTES averaged 8.35 million viewers in its 56th season, according to Nielsen most current ratings.
· 60 MINUTES reached 1 in 3 Americans at least once this year on linear and live streaming.
· 60 MINUTES' 90-minute editions that launched in the fall of 2023 reached an average of more than 20 million viewers each.
· 60 MINUTES was TV's #1 non-sports primetime program 15 times in the 2023-24 season.
· 60 MINUTES made the top 10 27 times in 28 broadcasts and top five 18 times.
