Matt Damon and Ken Jennings' Million Dollar Win Scores Big in Ratings for 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire'
Week Two Episode Is Top Program of the Night and Delivers Show's Best Performance in Over Five Years
· After a strong start to the summer with last week's season premiere, ABC's "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" rose week to week in Total Viewers (+5% - 4.46 million vs. 4.24 million), becoming the top program of the night for the second week in a row. The program also held 100% retention in Adults 18-49 (0.38 rating) from its week-ago season premiere.
· "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" towered over the No. 2 broadcast program of the night, CBS's "Big Brother," by +48% (4.46 million vs. 3.02 million), as host Jimmy Kimmel resumed his "feud" with nemesis Matt Damon.
· In an exciting twist, with Matt Damon and Ken Jennings winning the $1 million prize for Water.org, the show paced ahead of last season's average (+34% - 4.46 million vs. 3.33 million), earning its most-watched episode in over five years - since 6/4/20.
· The show's success also pushed ABC to a win for the night among the broadcast networks in Total Viewers (2.86 million).
· "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" owns ABC's top two entertainment telecasts in Total Viewers summer to date with its week 2 episode (4.46 million) and season premiere (4.24 million).
On next week's "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire," airing Wednesday, Aug. 6, at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC and streaming next day on Hulu, "Community" duo Joel McHale and Jim Rash team up, while "Severance" stars Tramell Tillman and Zach Cherry try to sever the gap to one million.
