It's a Fishy Business! Netflix Releases Premiere Date and Trailer for Billionaire Island - Starring a Star-studded Cast

12 years ago, Netflix launched its very first original series Lilyhammer. The Norwegian series, created by Eilif Skodvin and Anne Bjørnstad, marked the first time Netflix streamed a title across multiple countries and languages. This fall, the creators have reunited with Netflix and will premiere their new Norwegian dramedy Billionaire Island. The series is shot at the island of Frøya, Trøndelag, and depicts Norway's much-talked about and major fish farming industry in a new and humorous way. Trine Wiggen leads the cast as a ruthless owner of a Norwegian fish farming company who plans a hostile takeover of her local rival to become the world's largest salmon producer. Billionaire Island is being released globally on Netflix on September 12.

Anne Bjørnstad & Eilif Skodvin, creators: "It is fantastic to be reunited with Netflix on this series which deals with one of the newer marine creatures in Norway - the salmon billionaire. The fish farming industry has made many Norwegians very rich and is a veritable treasure trove of colorful characters and exciting stories. We can't wait to share Billionaire Island with the audience."

Billionaire Island is starring Trine Wiggen, Bjarne Brøndbo, Ragne Grande, Svein Roger Karlsen, Kåre Conradi, Oddgeir Thune, Axel Bøyum, Manish Sharma, Frank Kjosås and Bjørn Sundquist, among others.

The series is created by Anne Bjørnstad and Eilif Skodvin (Lilyhammer, Beforeigners) and produced by Rubicon. Conceptual director is Marit Moum Aune (Made in Oslo).
