A Unicorn, Thai Robin Hood and Local Politics: Here's What's Next on Netflix Thailand 2025

In 2024, Netflix Thailand promised to be bigger and bolder - and we did. The "Tee Thai Tee Mun" campaign brought eight groundbreaking local productions that captivated audiences across Thailand and beyond.

Among the highlights, premium lakorn Master of the House became the first Thai series to reach the No. 1 spot on Netflix's Global Top 10 TV Non-English list. Series like mystery drama Don't Come Home, rom-com Ready Set Love and horror Terror Tuesday: Extreme, as well as action films like Bangkok Breaking: Heaven and Hell also made waves on the Global Top 10 list, while The Believers, Tomorrow and i, and Doctor Climax sparked spirited conversations across Thai society.

In 2025, our Thai slate is anchored by exceptional talent, both in front of and behind the camera. While continuing to offer a variety of entertainment, including series and films that encourage members to ask questions, there's also a focus on introducing more inspirational stories that are not only local and relevant, but also speak to the heart.

Six films and three series will debut this year, and each will connect with Thai audiences in a different way. We're diving into local tastes and culture to create high-quality and best-in-class titles. With a mix of genres and styles, there's something for everyone.

The lineup kicks off with Dalah: Death and the Flowers, a highly anticipated series starring one of Thailand's top stars, Yaya-Urassaya Sperbund. Helmed by a mostly female production team, the stylish whodunit uses symbolic storytelling and stunning visuals to address complex social issues.

Inspired by true stories

In the last two years, the focus has been on pushing boundaries with edgy narratives. But as audiences worldwide increasingly reach for escapism and fun, we want to tell uplifting and true stories, which inspire much of this year's slate.

One of our landmark titles, Mad Unicorn, dramatizes the story of a fiercely determined entrepreneur from northern Thailand who builds himself up from zero to become the country's first unicorn start-up in the express delivery industry. Nottapon Boonprakob, a writer for One for the Road, makes his series directorial debut, while executive producers Jira Maligool and Vanridee Pongsittisak, who were behind the megahit film How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies, lend their expertise to the project. This rags-to-riches series is produced in collaboration with Thailand's leading studio GDH 559.

Continuing with the underdog theme, Frozen Hot Boys is not only a feel-good movie but also stranger than fiction. Imagine troubled Thai youths defying all odds to compete in an international snow-sculpting competition, despite their family struggles and tropical roots.

Other than present-day heroes, we also showcase dramatized versions of real-life historical figures, such as Ko-Wah, a Robin Hood-like outlaw from Southern Thailand in Khao Chum Thong (WT). Inspired by real events and delivered in the Southern Thai accent, the film reunites director Wisit Sasanatieng with actor-comedian Phetthai Vongkumlao after their success with The Murderer.

In another ode to the past, Tee Yai Rerk Dao Jone (WT) centers on the notorious bandit Tee Yai. Renowned director Nonzee Nimibutr (Once Upon a Star) transports viewers back to 1980s Bangkok to uncover a different perspective of his life.

Breaking new ground

Thai audiences love thrillers and horrors, and they're about to get them - with a twist.

In Everybody Loves Me When I'm Dead, veteran filmmaker Nithiwat Tharatorn, who was behind 2023's crowd favorite Analog Squad, makes his first foray into crime thrillers with an audacious tale of bank employees plotting to steal from the dormant bank account of an old dead woman. Beloved actors Ken-Theeradej Wongpuapan and Hugo-Chulachak Chakrabongse star in the film.

Offering a fresh approach to a survival movie, Ziam pits Thai martial arts against zombies. Produced by Kantana, the team behind Master of the House, the action-thriller stars Mark-Prin Suparat, who underwent extensive training for his character's bare-handed combat against the zombies, in his first Netflix film.

Having shed light on the interplay between faith and finance in its first season, The Believers returns for one last season with beloved characters Win, Game and Dear, who take aim at the intersection of faith and local politics. Stay tuned for the introduction of a surprise new cast member!

Contributing to the creative community

Over the years, Netflix has built strong connections with Thailand's creative community, creating a space where creators can bring their best work to life. By collaborating closely with industry partners, we've expanded opportunities, nurtured emerging talent and helped grow the creative ecosystem by providing skills workshops.

This year, we're proud to celebrate a major milestone with Sum Wan Gub Someone (WT), a project born from a screenwriter's pitch. We were drawn to this refreshing take on a rom-com and assembled a team to turn the idea into reality. The lighthearted film also pairs familiar faces Toey-Jarinporn Joonkiat and Great-Warintorn Panhakarn for the first time on screen, which we know fans are going to love.

With every new project, the aim is not just to tell stories but to reflect the lives and experiences of a variety of Thai people. Whether it's asking thought-provoking questions or spotlighting unlikely heroes, we want to keep showcasing stories that inspire, challenge and entertain.
