'The Boyfriend' Season 2 Unveils Heartwarming Trailer, Key Art, and Participants' Profiles

The Boyfriend is back this winter with a brand-new chapter of love and friendship. Japan's first gay romance reality series has unveiled its first trailer, key art, and cast profiles, offering a warm first look at Season 2.

This winter, The Boyfriend Season 2 moves to Hokkaido, where the Green Room becomes a snowy retreat. Ten men will spend two months living together amid stunning winter scenery. As in Season 1, they will operate a peppermint-colored coffee truck, setting the stage for the everyday moments and shared stories that unfold as they live together.

The main trailer offers a first look at the men settling into life together in Hokkaido, then teases a shocking reunion, a first romance, cozy time in the familiar living room, and shared tears - snapshots of the unforgettable experiences awaiting them. Viewers also see the studio hosts reacting in real-time to unexpected developments, inviting them to anticipate which scenes will become the season's most memorable.

Profiles for this season's participants have also been revealed. Ages span from 20 to 40 and include men from outside Japan, including Thailand and Peru:

Bomi (23), university student, Tokyo

Searching for his first boyfriend; his ideal romance is pure and innocent.

Hiroya (29), art director, Hokkaido

Highly considerate but has avoided relationships - now hoping to change.

Huwei (26), graduate student, Thailand

Smart, athletic, and fluent in multiple languages.

Izaya (32), IT sales worker, Tokyo

Sincere and strict; looking for a partner who thinks seriously about the future.

Jobu (26), manufacturing marketer, Osaka

Expressive, lively, and able to brighten any room; enthusiastic about love.

Kazuyuki (40), telecom sales worker, Osaka

Recently broke up with his partner of 15 years; the kind older brother of the group.

Ryuki (20)

A kind, younger-brother figure who is trying to leave his painful past behind and move on to his next relationship.

William (34), IT project manager, Peru

Dreams of marriage, but is struggling to take the next step after being hurt in a past relationship.

Korean indie rock band Glen Check, who composed the Season 1 song "Dazed & Confused," returns with a new track for Season 2 titled "Bloom," with lyrics that underscore the men's emotional journeys as they head toward a dazzling spring.

An unforgettable winter is about to begin. The Boyfriend returns on January 13, only on Netflix.
