CIVIL (TNT) - The cable channel has passed on the drama pilot, based on Scott Smith's bestselling novel which takes place in the wake of a hotly contested Presidential election, as America finds itself plunging uncontrollably into a modern day Civil War. (Deadline.com)
FOXY BROWN (Hulu, New!) - Meagan Good ("Minority Report") is set to assume the iconic role originated by Pam Grier in the 1974 film for a potential TV series at the streaming service. Malcolm Spellman and Ben Watkins will pen the modern-day take with Good receiving a producing credit. Franklin Entertainment's DeVon Franklin (Good's real life husband), Flame Ventures' Tony Krantz and Untitled Entertainment's Jason Weinberg and Evan Hainey will also executive produce the MGM Television-based project with Drew Comins as a co-executive producer. FRESH OFF THE BOAT (ABC) - Heather Locklear will drop by an upcoming episode as Sarah, "the intimidating ex-wife of Marvin (Ray Wise) who faults Honey (Chelsey Crisp) for the collapse of their marriage. Sarah is not only a DJ at the Radisson but also works at the glove counter of a department store." (EW.com)
HIS WIVES & DAUGHTERS (CMT) - Steve Pink (Hot Tub Time Machine) has signed on to direct the drama pilot, which centers on the eclectic and cunning wives and daughters of larger-than-life country music legend and infamous womanizer, Eddie Ray Banks (Jeff Kober). Christina Moore, Gail O'Grady, Jane Seymour, Kurt Fuller, Maria Canals-Barrera, Molly McCook, Talia Tabin and Tyler Hilton also star. (THR.com)
IMPASTOR (TV Land) - The network has decided to cancel the Michael Rosenbaum-led comedy after two seasons. "We want to thank the incredibly talented cast, producers and crew of 'Impastor' for their hard work over the past two exciting seasons," said Keith Cox, president of Development and Production at TV Land, in a statement. LOST IN SPACE (Netflix) - Ignacio Serricchio ("Bones") is the latest addition to the reboot series. He'll play Don West, "a roughneck smuggling luxury goods on the side who finds in the Robinsons the family he never thought he would find." Mark Goddard originated the role in the 1960s series. MR. MERCEDES (Audience) - Kelly Lynch has signed onto the David E. Kelley-produced series, based on Stephen King's book of the same name. She'll play Deborah Hartsfield, "Brady Hartsfield's (Harry Treadaway) complicated mother. Despite her troubles, Deborah tries to have a normal relationship with her deeply troubled son but she is rarely successful." (Deadline.com)
VARIOUS COMEDIES (ABC) - The Alphabet has ordered two additional episodes of its Wednesday comedies "The Goldbergs" and "Black-ish," bringing their season totals to 24. The network likewise asked for additional installments from Tuesday entries "Fresh Off the Boat" and "The Middle" as well as newcomers "American Housewife" and "Speechless," boosting their respective totals to 23 episodes each. "Modern Family" will hold pat at 22 episodes while "The Real O'Neals" was previously extended to 16 episodes. (Deadline.com)
