AMERICAN GIGOLO (Showtime) - Rosie O'Donnell has been cast in the film-turned-TV series as Detective Sunday, "who learns that an open-and-shut murder case she solved 14 years ago is once again open. She restarts the investigation and is quickly left with more questions than answers as she falls down a rabbit hole of corruption, lies and political machinery." (TVLine.com)
BEING ERICA (New!) - Allison Williams is attached to star in a domestic take on the Canadian series, which "tells the story of two women - strangers with seemingly nothing in common - seeking the help of an eccentric therapist who enables them to travel back in time to revisit their biggest regrets." Director Naima Ramos-Chapman and writers Elisa Zuritsky and Julie Rottenberg are among the auspices for the project, which is set to make the network rounds from Boat Rocker Studios. (Deadline.com)
BOTTOMS, THE (Amazon, New!) - Jon Bernthal and Ben Watkins are set to team for a new drama at the streamer which "will follow the interconnected systems of family structures, friends and neighbors, law enforcement, and criminality all intersecting in Shreveport, Louisiana, in the early '90s. Set in a particularly wild corner of the Deep South, the show will examine the inflection points, the blurred lines and the human cost on all sides." Said duo will co-write with Bernthal attached to star and both executive produce alongside director Reinaldo Marcus Green and Automatik's Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Rian Cahill, Justin Levy and Fred Berger. CRAG BANYON P.I. (FOX, New!) - Shane Black is spearheading an animated take on James Mullaney's book series, which "follows the supernatural adventures of Banyon, an alcoholic ex-cop and current private investigator, as he solves cases in an alternate noir, otherworldly reality." Black and Mullaney himself will pen the pilot script with David Silverman attached to direct and executive produce alongside Stampede Ventures' Greg Silverman and Paul Shapiro; Greenlit's David Greenblatt; and Vinson Films' Tripp Vinson for FOX Entertainment and Bento Box. GILDED AGE, THE (HBO) - Newly cast in the upcoming period drama are Patrick Page as Richard Clay, "George Russell's loyal secretary"; Douglas Sills as Monsieur Baudin, "the stylish, particular, and sometimes hysterical chef of the Russell house"; Amy Forsyth as Caroline "Carrie" Astor, "the handsome daughter of one of the most powerful women in New York City"; Taylor Richardson as Bridget, "a combined housemaid, kitchen maid, and lady's maid in the Brook house"; Kelley Curran as Turner, "Bertha's ambitious American lady's maid"; Ben Ahlers as Jack Treacher, "a footman/hall boy/jack of all trades in the Brook house"; and Bill Irwin as Cornelius Eckhard, "Ada's (Cynthia Nixon) former beau from her days in Pennsylvania." LAST THING HE TOLD ME, THE (Apple TV+, New!) - Julia Roberts is attached to star in a new limited series at the streamer based on the Laura Dave's upcoming novel about "a woman (Roberts) who forms an unexpected relationship with her 16-year-old stepdaughter while searching for the truth about why her husband has mysteriously disappeared." Dave and her real-life husband Josh Singer are spearheading the project, which has a straight-to-series order. Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter of Hello Sunshine; and Roberts, Marisa Yeres Gill and Lisa Gillan of Red Om Films will also executive produce for 20th Television. (Deadline.com)
MYTHIC QUEST: RAVEN'S BANQUET (Apple TV+) - Filming on the series been suspended once again as "16 cases of coronavirus were recorded at CBS Studio Center's Bungalow 3 in the first week of December." Per a Lionsgate spokesperson: "Several team members of the Lionsgate-produced television series Mythic Quest have tested positive for COVID-19. They are currently in quarantine, and other staff members have been notified. We are following the extensive health and safety protocols we have in place, and production on the series has been suspended since last Friday when we learned of the positive tests. The health and safety of our 'Mythic Quest' team is our highest priority." (Variety.com)
OLE WHITE SUGAH DADDY (Amazon, New!) - Obehi Janice is developing a small screen take on her play, which follows "the story of Janice, a Nigerian-American woman in tech who spends her days navigating her peers at the co-working space she works out of in Boston, the angel investors who aren't giving her the seed money she needs to get her app Neighbr off the ground, and her friends and family who are pushing her to move her business back to her hometown of Lowell." Lena Waithe and Rishi Rajani of Hillman Grad Productions and Robin Schwartz and Kyle Laursen of Big Beach will also executive produce for Amazon Studios. Janice will co-executive produce. P-VALLEY (Starz) - Creator Katori Hall has inked an overall deal with producer Lionsgate Television. The pact covers her duties on the series and her future development as well as "a fund to commission Black playwrights, all of whom will receive mentorship from the writer turned showrunner." TEACHABLE (CBS, New!) - Bridget Carpenter has set up a potential drama at the Eye about "a group of dedicated, caring teachers and administrators who take on the extraordinary task of confronting the absurd bureaucracies of the American public school system while working to inspire a new generation of students." The project is based on Roxana Elden's novel "Adequate Yearly Progress." Nina Tassler, Denise Di Novi and Joan Boorstein of PatMa Productions will also executive produce for CBS Studios. UNTITLED ROLLING STONES PROJECT (FX, New!) - The Rolling Stones are in advanced talks for a two-season order from the cable channel for a limited series focusing "on the band's glory years between its formation through to 1972, which includes a fantastic run of hit albums such as Their Satanic Majesties Request, Beggars Banquet, Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main Street." Nick Hornby would spearhead the project, which is set up at Left Bank Pictures. Members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood would presumably also executive produce.
