CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- FOX is leaning on "American Idol" to help launch its midseason comedy "Cracking Up," as the network announced today plans to pump up the show's premiere in March.
"Cracking Up" is now scheduled to premiere Tuesday, March 9 at 9:30/8:30c following a special 90-minute edition of "American Idol" featuring the "Idol's" "wild cards." The show's second episode will then air Wednesday, March 10 at 9:30/8:30c, also following an expanded edition of "American Idol's" results show.
"Up" will then continue its week-long premiere on Monday, March 15 at 8:00/7:00c with two back-to-back original episodes. The series will then settle into its previously announced Monday, 8:30/7:30c time period on Monday, March 22.
Meanwhile in other FOX news, the network also revealed it has scheduled regular weekly encores of its new reality series "My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance." Repeats of the show's Monday broadcasts will air Thursdays at 9:00/8:00c beginning tomorrow night.
