CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- Spike TV will flex its car muscles for a second season of "Ride With Funkmaster Flex" beginning next month, the network announced today:

Ride With Funkmaster Flex, Spike TV and RedMoxie's successful original series starring legendary DJ and car aficionado Funkmaster Flex, returns for a second season of 13 new episodes Sunday, May 2 (8:00-8:30pm ET/PT).

"From incredible car customizations for Missy Elliott, Tracy McGrady and Paulie Sr. to showcasing the fleets of Goldberg, Wyclef and Dale Earnhardt Jr. -- season two is bigger, better and full of the automotive insights and elite celebrity guests that only Flex and Spike TV can deliver," said Monica Taylor, Executive Producer, RedMoxie.

"Funkmaster Flex is a dynamic talent and his energy, passion, and knowledge for cars resonates directly with our audience," said Kevin Kay, Executive Vice President, Programming & Production, Spike TV.

Flex will also branch out of the car world and into other modes of transportation in Season II as he goes helicopter shopping with Mariah Carey, tricks-out a golf cart with Cedric The Entertainer, gets the inside scoop from John Madden in his infamous Madden-Cruiser, and hits the streets of Manhattan in some lowrider bikes with fellow DJ Moby.

Flex will once again hit the road for a taste of what's hot in the ride culture. From racing ATVs in the Nevada desert, to hanging out with stunt car experts, to hitting the track in some Carroll Shelby classic rides, Funkmaster Flex is among the most hands-on hosts on the air.

"The goal is to take the audience with him as he brings the latest and greatest in the automotive world, and whether it's getting hints on tricking out their own rides or taking a look at the fantasy vehicles of the stars, the viewers are in the shotgun seat with Flex on this ride," said Executive Producer Lashan Browning, RedMoxie.

In its first season on Spike TV, Ride With Funkmaster Flex was a hit with the network's target demographics. The series drew 150% more Men 18-34 and 100% more Men 18-49 compared to the timeslot the previous year. (source: Nielsen Media Research Data)

Ride With Funkmaster Flex, premiering last August, is the first ever car show of its kind. Flex, described by the New York Times as "the evangelist of hip hop car culture," is the recognized dean of car customization in the music and sports world. In Season II, the biggest names in entertainment and sports will once again ride with Flex including Mariah Carey, Tracy McGrady, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Cedric The Entertainer, John Madden, Donovan McNabb, Dave Chappelle, Tyra Banks, Missy Elliott, Goldberg, Wyclef, Ashanti, Baby and Cash Money Millionaire's, Russell Simmons, David Navarro, and Moby.

Ride With Funkmaster Flex is produced by RedMoxie. Emmy nominated Producer Monica Taylor (Live with Regis and Kathie Lee) and film and TV Producer Lashan Browning serve as executive producers of the series.

Funkmaster Flex is the founder of "Team Baurtwell," the highest profile custom-car club with members including Shaquille O'Neal, Queen Latifah, 50 Cent, DMX, Tyson Beckford, Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliott, and Faith Evans.

In addition, Spike TV has proved descriptions for the show's May episodes:

Sunday, May 2 - "Chopper Shopping with Mariah" -- Flex goes flying with Mariah Carey, drives the legendary Cobra, and gives a behind-the-scenes tour of the Funkmaster Flex Celebrity car show, including hot cars from Wyclef, Busta Rhymes, and 50 Cent.

Sunday, May 9 - "The Starsky and Hutch Makeover" -- Flex customizes an original Torino from the motion picture STARSKY AND HUTCH, explores the underground chopper racing culture, and visits the collection of recording star Wyclef.

Sunday, May 16 - "Hitting the Streets with Orange County Choppers" -- Flex races with the big dogs at the Richard Petty Driving Experience, meets up with the men of American Choppers, and redesigns the Lexus of supermodel Tyra Banks.

Sunday, May 23 - "Cruisin with Madden and the Millionaires" -- Flex heads down south to visit Baby and the Cash Money Millionaires impressive fleet, takes you on a tour of the Madden Cruiser, and introduces a new style of driving - drifting.

Sunday, May 30 - "Keeping Missy Supa Dupa Fly" -- Flex hooks up Missy Elliott's Camaro, take "Hip Hop Godfather" Rusell Simmons shopping for a ride, and visits a man who caters to a star's every whim.
