LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- FX and Showtime are keeping their respective signature dramas around for another year as each announced 2004-05 season pick-ups for "The Shield" and "Queer as Folk" today.
"Shield," which wraps its third season on June 15, will return for 15 new installments in early 2005 while "Folk," currently in its fourth season on the pay channel, is set for a new cycle of 13 episodes come next spring.
Both renewals come as little surprise as each series is seen as integral to their network's original programming efforts.
Shawn Ryan is the creator and executive producer of "The Shield" while Ron Cowen, Daniel Lipman and Tony Jonas serve as the executive producers of "Queer as Folk."
