Sen. Kerry One of Many Political Figures to Visit the LATE SHOW Over the Years

The LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN kicks off the new fall television season with Democratic Presidential Candidate Sen. John Kerry's first visit to the CBS late night broadcast, Monday, Sept. 20 (11:35 PM-12:37 AM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Sen. Kerry is just one of the many political figures to visit the LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN; over the years, the CBS late night broadcast LATE SHOW has played host to some of the biggest names in politics, including President George W. Bush, former President Bill Clinton, former Vice President Al Gore, Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Sen. John Edwards, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Sen. Bob Dole, Sen. John McCain, former Vice President Dan Quayle, Secretary of State Colin Powell, Attorney General John Ashcroft, Sen. Bill Bradley, New York City Mayors Michael Bloomberg and Rudolph Giuliani, New York State Governor George Pataki, White House Press Secretaries Ari Fleischer and Joe Lockhart and former EPA Administrator and New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman.

Sen. Kerry accepted the nomination of his party as its presidential candidate at the Democratic National Convention in Boston on July 29, 2004. He is a four-term senator from his native Massachusetts, and during his tenure in the U.S. Senate has served on panels such as the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and has been chairman of the Senate Select Committee on POW/MIA Affairs. Prior to being elected to the U.S. Senate, he had been Massachusetts' lieutenant governor from 1983 to 1985. A former prosecutor, Sen. Kerry also served in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam from 1966 to 1970, where he earned a Silver Star, a Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts.

Also coming up on the LATE SHOW during CBS's fall premiere week are Dr. Phil McGraw, host of "A Dr. Phil Primetime Special: Family First" and "CSI: NY" star Gary Sinise on Tuesday, Sept 21; actress and talk show host Kelly Ripa and music legend Elvis Costello on Wednesday, Sept. 22; "dr. vegas" star Rob Lowe on Thursday, Sept. 23; and actress Julianne Moore, comedian Tom Dreesen and a Top Ten List presented by Miss America 2004 on Friday, Sept. 24.
