Prime Video Reveals First Stars of Boys of Tommen
Newcomers Nancy Surridge, Conor Sánchez, James O'Donoghue and Sophie McGibbon Join the Adaptation of Chloe Walsh's #1 New York Times Bestselling Phenomenon with Irish Filmmaker, Brendan Canty, onboard to direct
LONDON, UK - 15 May 2026 - Prime Video today announced the first cast members for Boys of Tommen, the highly anticipated, sweeping romantic drama original TV series based on the BookTok sensation and #1 New York Times bestselling series by Irish author Chloe Walsh. After a widespread search, Prime Video confirms that Nancy Surridge has landed the role of Shannon Lynch, the shy and mysterious new girl at Tommen College, Conor Sánchez will bring Johnny Kavanagh, the golden boy of Tommen, to life, with James O'Donoghue as the troubled but loyal Joey Lynch, and Sophie McGibbon as the fiercely confident Aoife Molloy. VMA nominated Brendan Canty (Christy) will direct the series, while Ingrid Goodwin joins as Series Producer.
Director Brendan Canty said: "As someone who grew up in Cork, where these stories are set, this project feels incredibly personal to me. Poppy has done an amazing job adapting Chloe's beloved books, and the way both writers capture young people's lives with such empathy, tenderness and honesty feels truly extraordinary to me. To do justice to the world they've created, we knew that finding the right cast was going to be everything. We searched far and wide, receiving over 3000 casting suggestions from across the UK and Ireland, but from the moment Nancy, Conor, James and Sophie walked into the room, it was clear we'd found something beyond special. Each of them brings the spirit and emotional depth this story demands, and I couldn't be more excited to bring Chloe's world to the screen with this extraordinary young cast."
Poppy Cogan, lead writer and Executive Producer, said: "These characters have lived in the hearts and minds of millions of readers, and the response to them has been overwhelming, so finding the right cast was incredibly important. Chloe has created such a rich, emotionally vivid world in these books, and as the writer adapting this story for screen it's been a privilege to be entrusted with bringing that world to life. I'm thrilled beyond words that we've found our Shannon, Johnny, Joey and Aoife in Nancy, Conor, James and Sophie - they are the perfect people to embody these roles. Knowing that everyone behind this production and at Amazon MGM Studios shares my passion for telling this story authentically makes this moment even more special. I cannot wait for the world to see what's coming."
Boys of Tommen follows the forbidden love story of Johnny Kavanagh, the star rugby player on the verge of a pro career, and Shannon Lynch, the talented but painfully shy new girl at the prestigious private school of Tommen College in Ballylaggin, Ireland. Both teenagers are hiding secrets; Johnny, a potentially career-ending injury, and Shannon, a troubled and violent homelife. Through their secret and highly charged connection, the two teens from opposite worlds battle against the odds and find a way to save each other.
The series, which was greenlit earlier this year, is produced by global independent studio wiip in association with Amazon MGM Studios, with Metropolitan providing local production services. Series one has been adapted by Poppy Cogan (A Good Girl's Guide to Murder) and will be based on the first two novels in Walsh's bestselling series, "Binding 13" and "Keeping 13". Cogan also serves as Executive Producer alongside author of the series, Chloe Walsh, wiip's Paul Lee, Hope Hartman and Sean Flanagan, Temple Hill's Wyck Godfrey, Marty Bowen, James Seidman and Annika Patten and Drama Republic's Greg Brenman and Deena Butt. Carla Stronge serves as casting director, leading an extensive search to find the right talent for every role.
Boys of Tommen will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide as part of Amazon MGM Studios' expanding global slate of premium international scripted series and dedication to delivering book-to-screen adaptations.
