Franchise Programming Leads Cartoon Network to Double-Digit Gains
among Kids 6-11
FRIDAYS, MIGUZI, TOONAMI All Post Growth among Target Demos
Powerhouse Trio of Original Series Provide FRIDAYS� 6:30-8 p.m. Lock on Kids and Boys 6-11
Cartoon Network�s strategy of creating �destination viewing� with key on-air franchises has proven its power once again with mostly double-digit kids� total day delivery and ratings growth across the board, according to Nielsen Media Research. FRIDAYS (6:30 p.m.-12 a.m.), MIGUZI (Monday-Thursday, 5-7 p.m.) and TOONAMI (Saturday, 7-11 p.m.) each posted significant gains with target audiences, leading the network to the following performance highlights compared to the same time periods last year:
Kids� Total Day Average (Monday-Sunday, 6 a.m.- 6 a.m., Kids� Programming)
- Kids 6-11 delivery (477,000) expanded by 21% and ratings (2.0) by 18%.
- Kids 2-11 delivery (785,000) climbed by 8% and ratings (2.0) by 11%.
- Tweens 9-14 delivery (338,000) rose by 12% and ratings (1.4) by 17%.
FRIDAYS (Friday, 6:30 p.m. � 12 a.m.)
- Kids 6-11 delivery (938,000) and ratings (3.9) both grew by 5%.
- Kids 2-11 delivery (1,296,000) improved by 2% and ratings (3.3) by 2%.
MIGUZI (Monday-Thursday, 5-7 p.m.)
- Kids 6-11 delivery (743,000) advanced by 27% and ratings (3.1) by 24%.
- Kids 2-11 delivery (1,138,000) increased by 31% and ratings (2.9) by 32%.
- Girls 6-11 delivery surged by 83% and ratings by 75%.
TOONAMI (Saturday, 7-11 p.m.)
- Tweens 9-14 delivery (573,000) jumped by 7% and ratings (2.3) by 5%.
Standouts among Cartoon Network�s individual series include three originals that led off the FRIDAYS five-and-a-half hour programming block. Highlights of their delivery and ratings performances include the following:
Codename: Kids Next Door (Friday, 6:30 p.m.)
- Telecast ranked #1 in its time period on basic cable among kids 6-11, kids 2-11, boys 6-11 and boys 2-11.
- Kids 6-11 delivery (1,002,000) rose by 6% and ratings (4.1) by 2%.
- Kids 2-11 delivery (1,370,000) and ratings (3.5) both climbed by 17%.
Foster�s Home for Imaginary Friends (Friday, 7 p.m.)
- Telecast ranked #1 in its time period on basic cable among kids 6-11, boys 6-11 and boys 2-11.
- Kids 6-11 delivery (1,003,000) increased by 12% and ratings (4.1) by 11%.
- Kids 2-11 delivery (1,314,000) and ratings (3.3) both improved by 18%.
The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy (Friday, 7:30 p.m.)
- Telecast ranked #1 in its time period on basic cable among boys 6-11 and boys 2-11.
- Kids 6-11 delivery (970,000) jumped by 9% and ratings (4.0) by 8%.
- Kids 2-11 delivery (1,296,000) advanced by 8% and ratings (3.3) by 6%.
