[11/18/04 - 12:00 AM] ABC Gets 'In the Game,' Expands 'Makeover' Franchise By Brian Ford Sullivan (TFC) |
|
|
LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- ABC is getting "In the Game" as the network has ordered six episodes of the Jennifer Love Hewitt-led comedy pilot for its midseason roster. In addition, the Alphabet is looking to expand its "Extreme Makeover" franchise with a "Wedding Edition."
"Game," the project's working title, stars Hewitt as an up-and-coming sports producer and single mom who unwillingly becomes an on-camera reporter. Also starring in the Touchstone Television/Handprint Entertainment series is Ed O'Neill ("L.A. Dragnet") as Buzz, the executive producer of the sports show for which Hewitt works with John Patrick Stewart ("Andy Richter Controls the Universe") and Josie Davis ("Melrose Place") as anchors T.J. and Brandee, respectively, the latter of which butts heads with Hewitt's character.
The series, which comes from executive producers Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah ("life as we know it"), marks ABC's second comedy order for midseason, the other being John Stamos' untitled project.
Meanwhile, ABC has committed to a one-hour backdoor pilot special entitled "Extreme Makoever: Wedding Edition." As one might expect, the special will involve making over a couple's wedding ceremony and reception. Craig Armstrong ("Supernanny") and his Stoney Brook Productions banner are behind the project, additional details of which were not available.
