By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our newly revamped "Series in Development" charts. Visitors can now filter our listings by network, genre and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

BOW (The WB) - Joseph Lawrence ("Run of the House"), Kim Fields ("Living Single") and Charles Duckworth ("Wanda at Large") have all joined the cast of the Bow-led comedy pilot, about a rap singer who's coming of age and taking control of his business. Lawrence will play the agent of Bow's character while details about Fields and Duckworth's weren't released. Erica Montolfo, Dan Cross & David Hoge are behind the Touchstone Television-based project, with Teresa Caldwell and Michael Mauldin also serving as executive producers.

FOUR KINGS (NBC) - Seth Green ("Greg the Bunny") and Kiele Sanchez ("Married to the Kellys") have both joined the cast of the comedy pilot, about four buddies, all best friends since childhood, living in New York. Green will play Barry in the project, who's described in the casting notice as: "Mid 20's. But only chronologically. He acts more like an annoyed guy in his fifties. Combative, self-righteous, Barry is always convinced he is getting a raw deal. He is an okay-looking guy, maybe even cute to some, but the actor he resembles most in attitude is Paul Giamatti only not as care-free." Sanchez then is believed to be playing Jenny: "Mid 20's. Sexy, very beautiful New York achiever with an underlying vulnerability. She is Ben's [Jonah Lotan] girlfriend who is somewhere between Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Garner." Todd Grinnell also stars in the Warner Bros. Television-based project, which comes from executive producers David Kohan and Max Mutchnick.

THE L WORD/QUEER AS FOLK (Showtime) - The pay channel's May schedule has confirmed "The L Word" will wrap its second season on Sunday, May 15 at 10:00/9:00c. "Queer as Folk," which is entering its final season, then will take over the slot the following week.

MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE (FOX) - In addition to its seventh season renewal (read the story), creator/executive producer Linwood Boomer has inked a new overall deal with Regency Television. The pact calls for Boomer to develop new series for the company, his first development since launching "Malcolm" in 2000. "Because the odds are next year will be the last, I won't feel guilty about doing something new," he told Daily Variety. "This show has always been close to my heart, so I haven't developed before now." As for specifics about its new season, Boomer confirmed it will open with an episode featuring the family attending the counterculture Burning Man festival in the desert.

RAPID FIRE (A.K.A. NORCO) (USA) - The telefilm, the last of USA's "true crime" series, is scheduled to air on Tuesday, May 24 at 9:30/8:30c. Jason Gedrick ("Boomtown") and David Cubitt ("Robbery Homicide Division") star in the project, which is described in the network's press materials as follows: "Five robbers hold up the Security Pacific Bank in Norco, California, igniting a chain of events resulting in one of the deadliest shootouts and pursuits in law enforcement history. When the bandits flee the bank with $20,000 in cash, the men and women of the police department descend upon the scene. Two officers are immediately wounded in the intense crossfire and a civilian hostage is held at gunpoint. The robbers lead an unprecedented chase throughout the city, numerous neighborhoods, countless freeways, and a national forest where the extraordinary chase finally comes to an end. This is the true story of heroism in the line of fire. What begins as a routine afternoon for civilians, bank tellers and police officers turns into a day none of them will ever forget." Kari Skogland ("Queer as Folk") directed from a script by Robert Carney.

THE SHOW WITH AJ CALLOWAY (UPN) - Kel Mitchell ("Dance 360") has joined the cast of the comedy pilot, a fictionalized look at the life of BET host AJ Calloway. He'll play a producer on Calloway's show in the project, which comes from Sony Pictures Television and Handprint Entertainment. David Goetch ("Game Over") and Handprint's Benny Medina, Jeff Pollack and Evan Weiss are the executive producers.

UNTITLED JERRY BRUCKHEIMER/MARSH MCCALL PROJECT (CBS) - Katherine Waterston has joined the cast of the comedy pilot, about three adult siblings - two brothers (Jonathan Silverman, Reid Scott), one sister - doing their best to deal with their eccentric, newly single father when their mother leaves him. It's believed Waterston will play the sister in the Warner Bros. Television-based project, which comes from creator Marsh McCall and Jerry Bruckheimer & Jonathan Littman's Bruckheimer Television.
