For the First Time, a Kidnapped Brother and Sister Are Found as a Direct Result of a Tip from a "Without a Trace" Viewer Who Saw the Missing Boy Profiled During the July 21st Broadcast of the CBS Series

FOR THE FIRST TIME, A KIDNAPPED BROTHER AND SISTER ARE FOUND AS A DIRECT RESULT OF A TIP FROM A "WITHOUT A TRACE" VIEWER WHO SAW THE MISSING BOY PROFILED DURING THE JULY 21ST BROADCAST OF THE CBS SERIES

Eight-year-old Nicholas Antonio Candela and his 7-year-old sister, Gio' Annah, were located today in Tuckahoe, N.Y. after a WITHOUT A TRACE viewer provided the FBI with information after seeing Nicholas profiled as the missing person during the July 21 broadcast of the Thursday night CBS drama series. Gio' Annah was to be profiled during this Thursday's broadcast.

This is the first time a missing person has been found as a direct result of one of WITHOUT A TRACE's profiles.

The children's recovery, and the arrest of their parental kidnapper, Marcia Rose Marie Candela, 42, who disappeared with the children in October 2003, was announced by Salvador Hernandez, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Oklahoma, and William Citty, Chief, Oklahoma City Police Department.

Based on the WITHOUT A TRACE viewer's tip, Marcia, Nicholas and Gio' Annah were located at an apartment in the 300 block of Columbus Ave. in Tuckahoe, N.Y. Early this morning, Candela was arrested by FBI Agents and Task Force Officers from the FBI's White Plains Resident Agency. The children were taken into FBI custody.

On November 19, 2003, a State of Oklahoma Child Stealing arrest warrant was issued for Marcia Rose Marie Candela. She had kidnapped the children the day that her ex-husband was granted full custody of them on Oct. 14, 2003 in Oklahoma. On May 14, 2004, the Oklahoma City Division of the FBI was asked for their assistance. On June 25, 2004, a Federal Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution arrest warrant was issued in the Western District of Oklahoma for Marcia Rose Marie Candela.

Prior to the September 2002 premiere of WITHOUT A TRACE, a fictional drama about the missing persons unit of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, CBS joined forces with the FBI to profile a new missing person each week, even during rebroadcasts. Each broadcast since the series' premiere has featured a PSA asking for the public's help to find a real-life missing person. The PSA includes a picture and descriptive information about a missing person with a message asking viewers to call their nearest FBI office if they have seen the person or have any information relevant to the case.

WITHOUT A TRACE stars Anthony LaPaglia as the head of the Missing Persons Squad of the FBI. The sole responsibility of this special task force is to find missing persons by applying advanced psychological profiling techniques to peel back the layers of the victims' lives and trace their whereabouts in an effort to discover whether they have been abducted, murdered, committed suicide or simply run-away. The series also stars Poppy Montgomery, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Enrique Murciano and Eric Close.
