PRIMETIME HOSTS DAYTIME RETURNS
Promotional Campaign Featuring Stars of New and Returning ABC Primetime Series, including "Desperate Housewives" and "Lost," Hosting the ABC Soap lineup
The ABC Television Network will bring back "Primetime Hosts Daytime," the popular synergistic marketing campaign that brings the stars of Primetime's new and returning series to Daytime interstitial spots during the network's top-rated Daytime drama lineup of "All My Children," "One Life to Live" and "General Hospital." Beginning September 20, talent from 11 Primetime shows - dramas, comedies and reality - will once again appear over a three-week period in thirty-second spots that run at the top of that day's Daytime dramas. Each spot will give fans a sneak peek at the star's Primetime series, along with a teaser of that day's episode of the soaps.
Brian Frons, president, ABC Daytime, said: "We are delighted to have our soaps once again hosted by our Primetime stars. This will give our Daytime fans a special chance to be introduced to our new shows and what is coming up on our returning shows."
The campaign will kick off on September 20 with "Dancing with the Stars'" hoofers Kelly Monaco and John O'Hurley -- the day the pair will reunite on their Primetime "Dance Off." Other stars slated to appear are James Denton, Ricardo Antonio Chavira and Doug Savant ("Desperate Housewives"), Josh Holloway ("Lost"), Faith Ford and Kelly Ripa ("Hope & Faith"), Freddie Prinze Jr. ("Freddie"), Nicole Sullivan ("Hot Properties"), Rodney Carrington and Jennifer Aspen ("Rodney"), George Lopez and Constance Marie ("George Lopez"), Ryan Michelle Bathe, Justin Mentell and William Shatner ("Boston Legal") and Jim Belushi and Courtney Thorne Smith ("According to Jim").
In addition, SOAPnet will play the interstitials during their primetime plays of the ABC soaps.
The ABC Daytime drama lineup is number one in the key demographic of women 18-49. The full ABC Daytime lineup includes "The View, "All My Children, "One Life to Live" and "General Hospital."
