NELLY FURTADO AND TIMBALAND WILL PERFORM "PROMISCUOUS" ON "SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE" THURSDAY, JUNE 15, ON FOX
Top 20 Finalists to Perform for America Tonight
Nelly Furtado and Timbaland will take the stage tomorrow night to perform the smash single "Promiscuous" from her new album "Loose" (in stores June 20) on the SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE results show Thursday, June 15 (9:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX. On tonight's performance show (Wednesday, June 14, 8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), America will see the 20 Finalists perform in pairs for the first time.
Furtado is a Canadian-born singer and songwriter whose debut album "Whoa Nelly!" saw great success with the single "I'm Like a Bird." Her second album was "Folklore," which gained multi-platinum status worldwide thanks to her international hit single "Forca." This month, Furtado will release her album "Loose," which is mostly produced by Timbaland and features the single "Promiscuous," in which Timbaland appears.
Timbaland grew up in Norfolk, VA, and began his career as a disc jockey known as "DJ Timmy Tim." He began making hip-hop backing tracks on a Casio keyboard in hopes of being discovered. Missy Elliott heard his material and was taken by his unique sense of rhythm. Elliott helped Timbaland break into the music world with the release of Ginuwine's debut album "Ginuwine...the Bachelor," which was produced entirely by Timbaland. The album was both a commercial and critical success. Since then, Timbaland has become an iconic producer in the urban and pop world, with collaborations with some of the biggest names in the music arena, such as Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, LL Cool J, Elliott and Furtado, to name a few. In 2005, Timbaland started his new label, Mosely Music Group, and Furtado's album is being released on Geffen Records/Mosely Music Group.
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE was created by Simon Fuller and Nigel Lythgoe and comes from 19 Entertainment Ltd. and dick clark productions. It is executive-produced by Simon Fuller, Nigel Lythgoe and Allen Shapiro.
