"The King of Queens" Rejoins the Monday Comedy Lineup on April 9

CBS announced today a series of mid-season moves designed to populate its Monday night comedy block with original episodes for the remainder of the season in select time periods.

The scheduling moves feature a "super" premiere of a mid-season comedy, RULES OF ENGAGEMENT, and the finale run of the popular series, THE KING OF QUEENS.

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT, a comedy about different phases of the male/female relationship as seen through the eyes of a newly-engaged couple, a long-married pair and a single guy, will premiere Monday, Feb. 5 (9:30-10:00 PM, ET/PT), the night following CBS Sports' broadcast of Super Bowl XLI.

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT stars Oliver Hudson ("The Mountain") and Bianca Kajlich ("Dawson's Creek") as the newly-engaged couple, Patrick Warburton ("Seinfeld") and Megyn Price ("Grounded For Life") as a long-married couple and David Spade ("Just Shoot Me") as a single guy on the prowl.

THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE, starring Emmy Award winner and Golden Globe nominee Julia Louis-Dreyfus, will briefly leave the schedule following its Jan. 29 broadcast before relocating to its new Monday, (8:30-9:00 PM, ET/PT) time period beginning March 12.

CHRISTINE replaces THE CLASS which will complete its freshman season order on March 5 with an uninterrupted run of all original episodes through its season finale after a Jan. 29 rebroadcast.

Meanwhile, THE KING OF QUEENS, currently broadcast on Wednesday (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) rejoins CBS's Monday comedy line-up on April 9 (9:30-10:00 PM, ET/PT) after the conclusion of the seven week run of RULES OF ENGAGEMENT.

THE KING OF QUEENS will return with original episodes for the remainder of its ninth and final season.

"These scheduling moves enable us to program more original episodes of comedy in targeted time periods for the remainder of the season," said Nina Tassler, President, CBS Entertainment. "It also provides an opportunity to give 'The King of Queens' a proper send-off in high profile time period in the Monday night block it helped build."
