WEEDS Is on a Roll!
Lionsgate's Acclaimed Showtime Comedy Series Earns SAG Award Nominations
for Best Actress and Best Ensemble and a Producers Guild Nomination
SANTA MONICA, Calif., Jan. 5 -- Lionsgate's
(NYSE: LGF) acclaimed Showtime comedy WEEDS has earned Screen Actors Guild
Award nominations in the television categories of Actress in a Comedy
Series for Mary-Louise Parker and Comedy Ensemble. The Producers Guild of
America has also tapped WEEDS for a comedy series nomination. These nods
join a growing list of accolades for the show, which includes four Golden
Globe nominations.
A daring adult comedy which pushes the boundaries of contemporary
television, WEEDS has enjoyed both domestic and international success and
was recently renewed for a third season. Produced by Lionsgate in
association with Tilted Productions, the series is created and executive
produced by Emmy(R) Award winner Jenji Kohan. Roberto Benabib and Craig
Zisk are also executive producers; Mark Burley is supervising producer.
WEEDS resumes shooting in Los Angeles this spring for a summer 2007 third
season launch.
The 13th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be presented January
28, 2007 at the Shrine Auditorium. This year's Producers Guild Award
winners will be honored on January 20, 2007 at the Century Plaza Hotel in
Los Angeles.
