NEW YORK, September 12, 2007 -- Mike Birbiglia, one of the nation's most beloved comedians, is releasing his second COMEDY CENTRAL Records CD "My Secret Public Journal Live" on September 25. The new CD is a collection of his best "My Secret Public Journal" entries, which are featured on www.comedycentral.com. "Mike Birbiglia: My Secret Public Journal Live" CD drops nationwide on September 25 and will also be available at www.shop.comedycentral.com.
The new CD features Birbiglia delving deeper into storytelling, revealing his most painful stories in a style that has made him popular with audiences of all ages. It closes with an acoustic ballad entitled, "Put It On Paper," a call to action for listeners to write down their most embarrassing moments to keep things in perspective.
Mike Birbiglia, is currently on the road with "COMEDY CENTRAL Live: Mike Birbiglia's Secret Public Tour" traveling to over 30 cities nationwide in support of his "Mike Birbiglia: My Secret Public Journal Live" CD. The tour will include "secret special guests" who will join Birbiglia on tour with a rotating roster of comedians and indie musicians. The tour is sponsored by Wendy's.
Tour info is available at www.comedycentral.com and www.birbigs.com. Additional tour dates are continually added to the schedule and will be posted on both sites. Birbiglia also plans on doing some unannounced shows available only to people who sign up for "Secret Public Journal" on his Web site. Mikes "Secret Public Journal" originated as a weekly blog that the performer emailed to 30,000 fans and broadcasts to millions on the nationally-syndicated radio show "Bob & Tom." These personal autobiographical diary entries, which evoke the nostalgic tone of David Sedaris and Bill Cosby, have truly defined Birbiglias public persona.
The New York Post hails Mike Birbiglia as "on the cusp of comic greatness." For the past six years, Birbiglia has toured the country honing the act that made him one of the youngest comedians to ever appear on "The Late Show with David Letterman" and popularized the phrase "Cracker Please" as well as the renaming of George W. Bush as "Whiffle Ball Tony."
Birbiglia is a talk show regular and the star of two "COMEDY CENTRAL Presents" half-hour stand-up specials. His first COMEDY CENTRAL Records release, "Two Drink Mike," has sold well over 25,000 copies.
Some previously released recordings by COMEDY CENTRAL Records include: Grammy Award-winning, "Lewis Black: The Carnegie Hall Performance," Dane Cook's platinum-selling "Retaliation.," "Jim Gaffigan: Beyond The Pale," "Mike Birbiglia: Two Drink Mike," D.L. Hughley's "Notes From The GED Section," Todd Barry's "Falling Off The Bone," Mitch Hedberg's "Mitch All Together" and "Strategic Grill Locations," Dave Attell's "Skanks For The Memories" and Jim Breuer's "Smoke 'n' Breu."
