BRAVO IS COMPLETELY GREEN WITH EMMY
Network Offers On-Air And Online Screenings That Include Friday Viewing Marathons And Downloads On BravoTV.com/Emmy
NEW YORK May 8, 2008 Bravo is completely Green with Emmy as the network announced today that its upcoming Emmy "For Your Consideration" campaign is going green. Replacing the non-eco friendly award mailers, the network will make their series and specials solely available for download online at www.BravoTV.com/Emmy and will offer screenings on-air including 214 programming hours on-air across all day parts, where voting members will have the opportunity to view Emmy entries throughout the day beginning May 7 until the Emmy nominees are announced in July. The announcement was made by Frances Berwick, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Bravo Media.
"During Emmy season, every network comes up with new and innovative ways to reach NATAS' voting membership through their mailers, but after award season, this impressive packaging ends up in landfills across the country," said Berwick. "We hope the Academy's members will support Bravo this year as we minimize our carbon footprint by delivering our screenings online and on-air."
By replacing the Emmy mailers (including paper, packaging, production and shipping) and giving the Television Academy's membership the opportunity to view these programs solely online and on-air, the network's environment impact savings are estimated to be:
- 504 million BTU's in total energy consumption (equivalent to usage in 5.5 homes/year)
- 104,045 pounds of CO2 equivalent in greenhouse gases (the equivalent of 9 cars/year)
- 29,387 pounds in solid waste
- 45 tons in wood use (the equivalent of 315 trees)
Emmy voters can visit www.BravoTV.com/Emmy to view some of the network's franchise series that audiences find so addictive. In addition, the network has strategically scheduled 214 hours of Bravo series across all day parts, as well as "For Your Consideration" Friday marathons during the Emmy voting period specific viewing times are available on Bravo's Emmy voting site. The series available online and on-air include the Emmy Award-winning series "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List," the Emmy Award-nominated "Project Runway" and "Top Chef," the 13-time Emmy-nominated "Inside the Actors Studio," "The Real Housewives of Orange County," "Work Out," "Kathy Griffin: Straight to Hell," and Bravo's freshman hit series "The Real Housewives of New York City," "Step It Up & Dance," "The Millionaire Matchmaker," "Make Me A Supermodel," "Flipping Out" and "Tim Gunn's Guide to Style."
