ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT AND MSN UNITE IN WEB CONTENT DEAL
Top-rated Newsmagazine will Provide Branded Entertainment and Celebrity News to MSN Entertainment
HOLLYWOOD - August 4, 2008 - ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT, the #1 entertainment syndicated newsmagazine, has partnered with MSN to become the premiere provider of entertainment and celebrity content for the online portal, it was announced today by John Nogawski, President of CBS Television Distribution.
Under the terms of the deal, ET will have a branded presence on the home page of MSN Entertainment and provide content - articles, video segments and photos - across all sections of MSN Entertainment, including MSN Television, MSN Music and MSN Movies.
ET will also produce a daily mini-newscast for MSN, called "ET on MSN," which will be anchored by ET's on-air talent. ET content will begin appearing on MSN this fall.
"This is a perfect example of the type of endeavors we've charged Scott Koondel and his new media sales team with," Nogawski said. "This exciting partnership is a natural extension of the ET brand and should bring value to our affiliate stations, our viewers and now, online consumers."
"MSN will expand ET's audience reach, which will help solidify ET's reputation as a round-the-clock, 365-days-a-year entertainment news service," said Terry Wood, President of Creative Affairs and Development at CTD.
"ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT and MSN are a perfect match," said Linda Bell Blue, executive producer of ET. "Pairing ET, the #1 source for celebrity news on TV, with MSN, a top online Web destination, will create a one-stop source for celebrity and entertainment news. We're thrilled to expand ET's Web presence with such a top-notch partner."
As one of the top online destinations, MSN is a leader in high-profile content partnerships on the Web, from a deal with Fox Sports to live Web streaming of last year's Live Earth concerts and this year's 2008 Olympic Summer Games. The MSN partnership further expands ET's presence on the Web and follows a banner year for ETOnline, which saw its unique viewers grow to 1.7 million a month, a 55% increase over the previous year when it was repositioned as a 24/7 breaking news service with an expanded staff.
Currently in its 27th season, ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT is produced and distributed by CBS Television Distribution and is taped in Hollywood, Calif. Linda Bell Blue is executive producer. Mary Hart is anchor; Mark Steines is co-anchor. Jann Carl is primary substitute anchor and weekend anchor; Kevin Frazier is weekend anchor and correspondent. Leonard Maltin is film historian/correspondent. Steven Cojocaru and Thea Andrews are correspondents.
