MICHAEL SHOEMAKER NAMED PRODUCER, "LATE NIGHT WITH JIMMY FALLON"
NEW YORK, August 7, 2008 -- Emmy-winning producer Michael Shoemaker has been named as producer of "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon." The showrunner comes to "Late Night" with over twenty years of experience at "Saturday Night Live," where he began in 1986, it was announced today by "Late Night" and "Saturday Night Live" executive producer Lorne Michaels.
"Mike was at the center of all things good at 'Saturday Night Live' for the last twenty years," said Michaels. "He'll do a great job with Jimmy."
"I feel lucky to have Mike on my team. I've always admired his work ethic and his great relationship with writers and the whole creative process," added Jimmy Fallon. "Not to mention he's also brilliantly funny."
"Mike is the perfect producer for 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,'" noted Rick Ludwin, Executive Vice President, Late Night and Primetime Series, NBC Entertainment. "His long experience at 'Saturday Night Live,' his ability to nurture talent, great working relationship with Jimmy and familiarity with the best comedy talent in the business are all invaluable."
While the broadcast premiere date for "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" will be announced at a later date, in advance of its Spring debut, Fallon will take to the Internet with online webisodes of "Late Night" ramping up to its broadcast opening.
