BORED TO DEATH (HBO) - Emmy-nominee Ted Danson ("Damages") has joined the cast of the Jason Schwartzman-led pilot, about a struggling Brooklyn writer with a drinking problem who pretends to be a private detective in the vein of his heroes from Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett novels. Danson is set as Jonathan's friend and quasi-mentor, a pompous but articulate magazine editor. Alan Taylor is helming the project from a script by creator Jonathan Ames.
LOST IN THE '80S (NBC, New!) - "The Wonder Years" alum Bob Brush has scored a director-contingent pilot order for a new drama that's being billed as "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" meets "The Ice Storm," or more appropriately an '80s version of "Years." The project is set up at Sony Pictures Television and the studio-based Tantamount, with the banner's Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum and Mitch Hurwitz executive producing. Brush penned the pilot script and is also executive producing.
