LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:
Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!
HERO (Showtime, New!) - Perry Moore's tome about an up-and-coming superhero who struggles to hide his secret identities - including his sexual orientation - is being developed at a TV series by comic book icon Stan Lee. Moore himself is penning the pilot script and executive producing alongside Hunter Hill, Lee and Pow! Entertainment's Gill Champion.
THE KARENSKYS (CBS) - Sasha Alexander ("NCIS") and Tinsley Grimes ("That '80s Show") have both joined the cast of the comedy pilot, about Emily Atwood (Alexander), a woman who returns to her hometown when her husband's job relocates them and is reunited with her large, eccentric family - much to his chagrin. Grimes then is set as Anne-Marie Karensky, the wife of Emily's brother "Little Max" Karensky, who has given birth to seven children in six years. Linwood Boomer ("Malcolm in the Middle") is behind the multi-camera half-hour, which is based at BermanBraun and Universal Media Studios.
KEVIN AND THE CHART OF DESTINY (Showtime, New!) - Tim Long ("The Simpsons") has set up a script at the pay channel about a brilliant but lonely market researcher who designs an elaborate "dating system" - via a complex wall chart - in order to achieve his goal of finding a wife within one year. Long will pen and executive produce the comedy, "a love letter/apology to all the women I took on tragic dates," he told The Hollywood Reporter. No other specifics were given.
PRISON BREAK (FOX) - Producer 20th Century Fox Television has given notice to the show's ensemble that filming may be extended to accommodate two additional episodes. It's believed that said installments will serve as the show's swan song - either as part of the back half of its current 22-episode season, a finale "event" to air next season or as a direct-to-DVD follow-up to the series. No final decision however has been made.
