DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES (ABC) - After saying he hopes to end the show after seven seasons, creator/executive producer Marc Cherry confirmed he's now hoping to push the series into the 2011-12 season. Cherry made the remarks - "I started recently talks with [ABC Entertainment president] Steve McPherson and [ABC Studios president] Mark Pedowitz about continuing the show for a ninth season." - during a cake-cutting ceremony for the show's 100th episode. No deals however have been reached as the series itself is only officially committed through its current fifth season. It's believed Cherry's change of heart is tied to the show rebounding creatively - and ratings-wise - following its five-year jump in the storyline.
WAY OUT (Showtime, New!) - "Intervention" executive producer Bryn Freedman has landed a pilot presentation order from the pay channel for a new reality series in which closeted individual reveal their true sexual orientation during a group meeting. The series would then document their pre- and post-reveal lives and how their various relationships have changed as a result of coming out. Freedman then is executive producing alongside Evan Weiss.
