CSI: NY (CBS) - Executive producer Peter M. Lenkov has signed a seven-figure overall deal with producer CBS Television Studios. The two-year pact calls for the writer/producer to continue on the popular franchise as well as presumably cover his development over the next two years.
GARAGE WARS (Discovery, New!) - A. Smith and Co. ("Hell's Kitchen") has booked a series commitment from the cable channel which is being billed as a mechanical version of "Project Runway." Each week, a pair of fix-it shops will be given a box filled with identical parts and tasked with building the best vehicle in just four days. The winner will then be determined by a panel of judges. The 10-week series features 12 garages across three cities in an elimination-style bracket. Casting is underway for the show's hosts and judges. A. Smith's principals Arthur Smith and Kent Weed are executive producing alongside Frank Sinton and Tod Mesirow.
OUT OF EGYPT (Discovery, New!) - UCLA professor/archeologist Kara Cooney is set to host a new six-episode series which compares and contrasts patterns of far-flung cultures in attempt to "essentially desensationalize the typical "mysteries of the Pharaohs" approach to ancient Egypt." The Mayans of Central America, Incas of Peru and Singhalese of Sri Lanka are among the civilizations featured on the series, which will roll out Monday, August 17. Back-to-back episodes will air at 9:00/8:00c and 10:00/9:00c for three weeks. Cooney co-created the hour alongside her husband, Neil Crawford, with Digital Ranch producing.
