By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

CHARLIE'S ANGELS (ABC, New!) - Josh Friedman ("Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles") is developing a new small screen take on Aaron Spelling's much-ballyhooed franchise. ABC is reportedly close to giving a pilot commitment to the Sony Pictures Television-based project, which will also be executive produced by original "Charlie's Angels" producer Leonard Goldberg, movie "angel" Drew Barrymore and Nancy Juvonen. Spelling previously attempted a TV revival in 1998 for FOX billed "Angels 88" while a pre-"Lost" Carlton Cuse and "Sarah Connor" alum John Wirth took another stab for ABC back in 2004, neither of which got off the ground.

HMS (The CW, New!) - Feature writer Amy Holden Jones ("Mystic Pizza") is developing a new drama at the netlet about a group of bright students at Harvard Medical School. Warner Bros. Television is behind the hour, which Jones will write and executive produce with "Heroes" star Hayden Panettiere also serving as a co-executive producer. Jones originally developed the project for The WB during the 2004-05 season cycle however it stalled in the script stage.

REX IS NOT YOUR LAWYER (NBC) - Jeffrey Tambor ("Arrested Development") is the latest addition to the drama pilot, about Rex (David Tennant), "a top Chicago litigator who begins suffering panic attacks and takes up coaching clients to represent themselves in court." He'll play Rex's psychiatrist, "a specialist in anxiety disorders who himself suffers from them and who also becomes romantically involved with Rex's mother." David Semel is directing the Universal Media Studios-based hour from a script by Andrew Leeds and David Lampson.

WOMEN ARE CRAZY, MEN ARE STUPID (ABC, New!) - Howard J. Morris ("In Case of Emergency") and Jenny Lee ("Samantha Who?") have booked a script order from the Alphabet for a new comedy based on their book of the same name. Said half-hour will revolve around "a couple with a failed marriage looking to get it right the second time around." Morris and Elliot Webb are executive producing the project with Lee serving as a co-executive producer. No studio was listed as attached.
