BIG MIKE (A&E) - Ed Decter and John Strauss's drama, about "a plus-sized detective in a world where plus-sized is a minus," has received a cast-contingent pilot order from the cable channel. The pair co-wrote the project, from Happy Madison Productions and Sony Pictures Television, and are executive producing alongside the former's Doug Robinson.


THE EVENT (NBC) - Virginia Madsen ("Scoundrels") has landed a recurring role on the freshman drama. She'll play Catherine Lewis, "the widow of a U.S. senator from Alaska who has assumed her husband's post. A former powerhouse attorney, the Harvard grad is determined to carry out her husband's legacy at any cost." Said role was originally offered to Connie Britton, who presumably passed. "The Event" returns with new episodes on Monday, February 28.


HOMELAND (Showtime) - Laura Fraser ("A Knight's Tale") has joined the cast of the drama pilot, about "an American soldier taken prisoner during the invasion of Iraq in 2003. Left for dead, the soldier miraculously returns to the U.S. after years in captivity." She'll play Jessica Brody, the man's smart, strong wife. Mandy Patinkin and Claire Danes also star in the hour, which comes from co-creators Howard Gordon, Alex Gansa and Gideon Raff. Michael Cuesta is directing.


LONGMIRE (A&E, New!) - Craig Johnson's series of mystery novels - about Walt Longmire, the sheriff in a rural county in northern Wyoming - is being developed for the small screen by the cable channel. Hunt Baldwin and John Coveny ("Trust Me") are penning the adaptation, which has a cast-contingent pilot order. The pair are executive produce alongisde Greer Shephard and Michael M. Robin for Warner Horizon Television and the Shephard/Robin Co.


TRUE BLOOD (HBO) - Dane DeHaan ("In Treatment") and Rebecca Wisocky ("90210") are set to recur on the series, which returns for its fourth season this summer. He'll play Timbo, "one of the teens Jason (Ryan Kwanten) takes care of in Hotshot," with Wisocky as Queen Mab, "who is described as an elegant beauty who presides over a fantasy land and also has a temper."


UNTITLED MICHAEL SARDO PROJECT (Lifetime) - Carrie-Anne Moss ("The Matrix") has been tapped for the lead role on the drama pilot, about "New York's premiere celebrity psychologist [who], with her life and marriage in shambles, leaves town to join her sister, the dean at a teaching hospital, to become the chief of staff of the hospital's psych ward." Universal Cable Productions is behind the hour, which Michael Sardo is executive producing alongside Gerard Bocaccio. Timothy Busfield is also on board to direct from a script by Sardo.
