AMERICA NOW (Syndication) - Former daytime mainstay Leeza Gibbons is set to join Bill Rancic as host of the upcoming syndicated strip, from Raycom Media and Paul Buccieri's ITV Studios America. The half-hour series, due to launch September 12, is billed as "a lifestyle program featuring short informational segments about such topics as health and beauty, finance, family and home." No other auspices were given.
CASTLE (ABC) - TNT's off-network acquisition of the series is reportedly valued at $1.5 million per episode. Said number is actually shy of the $2 million per installment the cable channel will pay for "Hawaii Five-0," a series it regularly bests in both total viewers and adults 18-49. It's believed the reduced fee is due to the lack of exclusivity for TNT as distributor Disney-ABC Domestic Television can still sell weekend repeats of the series to local stations across the country.
UNTITLED ROB SCHNEIDER PROJECT (CBS) - The Eye is officially moving forward with a new pilot for the project, which stars Schneider as a confirmed bachelor who has just married into a tight-knit Mexican-American family. It's understood various roles will be recast for the new incarnation, including Nadine Velazquez as Rob's wife Maggie and Tony Plana as her father Fernando. Schneider and co-writer Lew Morton will also pen several additional scripts. CBS Television Studios is producing.
