THE BIG GIRLS (HBO, New!) - Susanna Moore's 2007 book, about "a young psychiatrist at a maximum security women's prison who attempts to treat the criminally insane while grappling with her own damaged psyche," is being developed as a drama by the pay channel. Joel Schumacher is in talks to direct the pilot from a script by Emmy-winner Adam Mazer ("You Don't Know Jack"). Electus' Ben Silverman and Original Media's Charlie Corwin are executive producing.
HAWAII FIVE-0 (CBS) - Tom Sizemore has booked a multi-episode arc on the show's sophomore season. He'll play "a former Detroit Homicide Detective turned head of Hawaii police's IA unit" who is actively investigating the Five-0 unit follow the events of the season finale.
HOUSE OF LIES (Showtime) - Don Cheadle, star of the upcoming comedy, has inked a first-look deal with the pay channel. The one-year pact gives Showtime first crack at the actor's output from his and partners Kay Liberman and Lenore Zerman's Crescendo Productions banner.
TOUCH (FOX) - Chris Levinson ("Law & Order") has inked a blind two-script deal - one for broadcast through 20th Century Fox Television and one for cable through Fox Television Studios - with Peter Chernin and Katherine Pope's Chernin Entertainment. In addition, she's expected to join the staff of the company's Kiefer Sutherland-led drama pilot "Touch," should it move forward to series.
UNTITLED SHELDON TURNER PROJECT (New!) - Sheldon Turner and Jennifer Klein have inked a first-look deal with ABC Studios. The two-year pact gives the company first crack at the duo's newly formed Vendetta banner's output, which is expected to include at least one effort from Turner himself. Previous projects from the duo include the Vice President drama "Number Two" (which Turner co-wrote with Shaun Cassidy) at ABC, "Broken" at FX (also written by Turner), drama "Michael Chance" to NBC (written by Julie Golden) and half-hour comedy "The True Adventures of a Terrible Dater" (written by Susan Brightbill) at CBS.
THE WALKING DEAD (AMC) - Lauren Cohan ("The Vampire Diaries") and Scott Wilson ("CSI: Crime Scene Investgation") have both scored roles on the upcoming second season of the cable drama. She'll play Maggie, the sharp, self-reliant daughter of farm owner Hershel Greene (Wilson) and a potential love interest for Steven Yuen's character. They'll join previously announced addition Pruitt Taylor Vince.
