TY PENNINGTON HEADS OVERSEAS FOR ONE-HOUR SPECIAL, "TY'S GREAT BRITISH ADVENTURE 2011," AUGUST 7 ON ABC

What happens when you send America's most energetic and enthusiastic makeover king to Merry Olde England to help the locals save one of the country's few outdoor community pools? For Ty Pennington, host of the Emmy Award-winning series "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," it was a challenge he embraced, traveling to Portishead on the Severn estuary. With his passport in hand and his reputation on the line, Ty crossed the Atlantic and embarked on the journey for his second special, "Ty's Great British Adventure 2011," which airs SUNDAY, AUGUST 7 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on ABC.

The townspeople of Portishead were devastated when the local council announced it was closing their much-loved open air swimming pool, one of the few left in England. The community rallied round and persuaded the council to hand their pool back to them. The only problem was, they wanted to reopen the rundown pool in time for summer, and there were still months of work to be done.

So Ty took on the seemingly impossible challenge, to clear out the pool, transform the changing rooms, install a kiddie play pool, fit solar heating, and redecorate this site which holds a special place in the hearts of the Portishead community. But just filling the pool usually took 7 days, which is all the time Ty had before heading back to the States. Was Ty able to overcome the impossible and get the pool reopened so that future generations might have their own cherished memories of swimming in the sun?

"Ty's Great British Adventure 2011" is executive-produced by Ty Pennington and Leigh Seaman for TPTV and Joe Houlihan and Melanie Leach for TwoFour Productions UK.
